SewnBySaliba is on Facebook
It amazes me as a blog owner the number of ways that I can link my site up through the internet.
———————————–
As it is, I am on Twitter and, of course Etsy, but these aren’t the only ways one can connect their site through the internet. As I have said before – blogging and sharing comments through other blogs is like a rabbit warren of connections. Well now I can add Facebook to my connections over the internet!!
Through the Facebook Page, I can share more photos, links, videos and more!
To celebrate this new addition to the site, I am offering my readers a special deal – if you “like” the SewnBySaliba Facebook page before 1st November, you will be emailed a special coupon code for my Etsy page, offering you 10% off full priced items discount!

So why not wonder over to the page and say hello?!
Own Your Own Bobbin Lace!
After the interest shown in my last post, I thought I would give my readers access to a special sale for bobbin lace bookmarks I have made!
——
The following three bobbin lace bookmarks are on sale at my Etsy Shop individually for $9.00 plus postage and handling, and each took approximately 3 hours to complete.
Pretty Pink Bookmark
Blue Bobbin Lace Bookmark
As I was looking at these bookmarks today, I got to thinking that they would make beautiful small “thoughtful” gifts; perhaps for an end-of-year present to a treasured teacher, a gift to a stitching friend?
Because we all like to be prepared and have ‘emergency gifts’ at the ready, I have listed these three bookmarks together AND reduced the total price to $22.00 plus postage and handling (that’s already a saving of $5.00, without including the added postage and handling if they were bought individually!).
Bobbin Lace Bookmark
What a great way to get ready for those unexpected Christmas guests who you forgot to buy presents for!
If you would like to take advantage of this special offer and own some handmade bobbin lace of your own, this link will take you direct to the listing!
————
I am also able to create personalised bobbin lace bookmarks – I have a number of gorgeous patterns and endless colours available. If you’re interested in looking at the patterns and colours available and having a custom-made order ready before Christmas, please email me at sewnbysaliba@hotmail.com
Bobbin Lace
I recently resumed my obsession with bobbin lace.
———————
The perfect way to slow down a busy mind after a day of hitting the books (I started back at uni last week, yay!!), bobbin lace is the art of actually making lace using a hard pillow, pins, thread and bobbins (best described as wooden sticks that the thread is wound on).
- Lace Bobbins
As you move the bobbins along the pillow in a series of stitches (most commonly, cloth, whole and half stitch) the thread creates knots which are pinned to the pillow to hold the lace shape. Once enough lace is made (on a larger piece), or the piece is finished and ends are knotted (on a smaller piece), pins ae removed to reveal the finished lace.
Lace Being Worked
Being such an old art form, it can be very hard to find other bobbin lacers. With the help of the internet and the rise of intenet-based ‘groups’, however, this problem is much less than one may think.
I belong to the Yahoo Bobbin Lace Group, where bobbin lacers from around the world are able to share photos, ideas, conversations and links to online resources.
I also have recently started attending a local bobbin lace group, which I am excited about! I am sure all of the experienced bobbin lacers in the group will prove as invaluable teachers and mentors!
