GEO's biennial National Conference, held in partnership with Philanthropy Northwest, is scheduled for Seattle March 12 - 14, 2012. More than 600 grantmakers from the GEO community will convene to discuss practices and approaches to smarter grantmaking that will help to make faster progress on some of society's most pressing challenges. Co-produced by GEO and Jump Associates, the guide argues that widespread empathy allows grantmakers to become more effective as their work is based on a more thorough, gut-level understanding of community needs and the work of grantees. The guide also offers stories and lessons from grantmakers about what can happen when foundations embrace empathy as a route to smarter grantmaking, stronger nonprofits and better results. + more
