    GEO has transitioned to a new Web platform in order to bring you more powerful networking features and compelling content.   • Registration for GEO's 2012 National Conference Sold Out

    GEO's biennial National Conference, held in partnership with Philanthropy Northwest, is scheduled for Seattle March 12 - 14, 2012. More than 600 grantmakers from the GEO community will convene to discuss practices and approaches to smarter grantmaking that will help to make faster progress on some of society's most pressing challenges.     Growing Social Impact in a Networked World: A Grantmakers' Gathering on Networks was held in San Francisco on October 17 – 18 and brought to you by GEO and Monitor Institute. This interactive convening focused on how funders and social change leaders can increase their impact by supporting networks and embracing more collaborative approaches to grantmaking. Session videos, participant blog posts and some speaker resources are now available. + more

  • Widespread Empathy: 5 Steps to Achieving Greater Impact in Philanthropy

    Co-produced by GEO and Jump Associates, the guide argues that widespread empathy allows grantmakers to become more effective as their work is based on a more thorough, gut-level understanding of community needs and the work of grantees. The guide also offers stories and lessons from grantmakers about what can happen when foundations embrace empathy as a route to smarter grantmaking, stronger nonprofits and better results. + more

    Knowing that you depend on the GEO community to stay informed of emerging trends in the field of philanthropy, we built a new online resource to aggregate information and conversations about grantmaking practices that contribute to growing social impact. You can use the site to find and share resources relating to our Scaling What Works initiative and the Social Innovation Fund.
