THE BAY BRIDGE IS CELEBRATING ITS 75TH ANNIVERSARY!
The Bay Bridge opened to traffic 75 years ago on November 12, 1936. "The Year of the Bay Bridge" will last from November 2011 to November 2012, with a year’s worth of activities to celebrate this monumental structure. Visit the new publicly-accessible interpretive display on Treasure Island, and get a spectacular view of the construction across the water. "INSIDE THE BAY BRIDGE" VIDEO

This latest video gives a rare glimpse of the work that takes place inside this massive new engineering icon, including the deck sections of the suspension span.
LAST SAS DECK SECTIONS PLACED
SAS CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: October 28, 2011
The 28th and final deck section for the Self-Anchored Suspension Span (SAS) was placed, marking a major milestone in the construction of the new East Span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.

Westbound 80 HOV lane:
10 p.m. to 9 a.m., one lane will be closed
Northbound 880 HOV ramp:
10 p.m. to 9 a.m. full ramp will be closed.
Sunday (02/12/12) night to Monday (02/13/12) morning:
Eastbound:
11 p.m. to 6 a.m., two lane will be closed.
Westbound:
11p.m. to 4:30 a.m., two lanes will be closed.
Westbound 80 HOV lane:
10 p.m. to 5 a.m., one lane will be closed
Northbound 880 HOV ramp:
10 p.m. to 5 a.m. ramp will be closed.

7 a.m. to 2 p.m., one lane will be closed.

The speed limit on the S-Curve is 40 mph for cars and 35 mph for trucks.

Due to construction work underway on the Eastern Span of the Bay Bridge, boaters are advised to pass under the bridge west of Yerba Buena Island.
