Book Review: Undisputed by Chris Jericho

February 5th 2012 04:35
Undisputed How to Become the World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps provides the world Y2J Chris Jerichos second autobiography. The first A Lions Tale follows the wrestlers journey to the WWE, leaving off with Jericho getting set to make his much anticipated WWE debut. Undisputed picks up directly where A Lions Tale leaves off, giving us insight into Jerichos first WWE stint plus more. The more entails Chriss experiences fronting his band Fozzy and also his acting pursuits.

Honestly, Undisputed caught me off guard. I expected another book more or less focused on wrestling. After all, the excerpt from Undisputed on the books jacket remains 100% wrestling orientated. Yet Y2J offers plenty of glimpses into his travels as a musician. While the music related stories interested me because I additionally happen to be a passionate music fan, Im unsure all wrestling fans will find the tales intriguing. Dont get me wrong though, Undisputed contains enough WWE stories to entertain wrestling enthusiasts. I make my point just so the reader knows what to expect.

Overall Chris Jerichos casual, conversational tone turns Undisputed into an engaging read. I prefer A Lions Tale over the second autobiography but Undisputed still proves worth your time, especially if you want to learn more about Chris Jericho the performer rather than the wrestler. Order Undisputed How to Become the World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps today from Amazon!

*Side note: Speaking of books, my own book Off Balanced is currently available for the Kindle and Nook. Preview today!

Sheamus Wins 2012 Royal Rumble Match

February 2nd 2012 06:00
From 30 to two, the final two participants in the 2012 Royal Rumble match, Chris Jericho and Sheamus, looked at each other. My prediction selecting Chris Jericho as the 2012 Royal Rumble match winner seemed like a sure thing now. Man, am I glad Im not a betting man. Many in the WWE Universe felt surprised when The Celtic Warrior Sheamus eliminated Chris Jericho in order to guarantee himself a World Heavyweight Title or WWE Title match on wrestlings grandest stage, Wrestlemania!

Now the question becomes what championship will The Great White challenge for? Both WWE Champion CM Punk and World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan will defend their titles later this month in Elimination Chamber matches at the amply named Elimination Chamber PPV. Until time reveals the title defenses results one will be hard pressed to make a solid prediction towards which championship Sheamus will choose to challenge for.

Forget predictions for now though, lets talk about desires. Personally I hope Daniel Bryan retains his World Heavyweight Title in the Elimination Chamber so we can see Daniel Bryan vs. The Celtic Warrior for the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania XXVIII. The dynamic the match could provide given Bryan vs. Sheamus fell off the Wrestlemania XXVII card last minute proves intriguing. Dont you agree? If not, what title do you want to see The Great White wrestle for at Wrestlemania XXVIII and against whom as champion?

Thoughts Heading into the 2012 Royal Rumble Match

January 26th 2012 04:32
This Sunday (January 29th) the 25th annual Royal Rumble match will take place from St. Louis, MO. The Royal Rumble match kicks off what always seems the most exciting time in the WWE Universe on a yearly basis, the road to Wrestlemania! After increasing the number of match participants to 40 wrestlers last year the WWE decided to go back to the traditional 30 participants this time around. Confirmed names for the 2012 Royal Rumble match include Chris Jericho, Sheamus, Wade Barrett, R-Truth, The Miz, and Mick Foley.

Thanks to a loss at the hands of R-Truth this past Monday The Miz now has to enter the 2012 Royal Rumble first, giving the Awesome superstar the toughest challenge in the bout. Given the feud between Sheamus and Wade Barrett centering on both superstars claiming they will win this years Royal Rumble, both competitors prove likely finalists for the match. However, I dont see Barrett or Sheamus winning. More than likely the two will somehow eliminate each other, allowing them to continue their rivalry and possibly setting up an encounter for Wrestlemania XXVIII.

Additionally, I could see a heel like Jack Swagger or Cody Rhodes take issue with Mick Foleys Royal Rumble match participation leading to the current superstar targeting and eliminating Foley. This could also build to a Wrestlemania XXVII match. Another exciting aspect to the Royal Rumble match involves surprise participants. Last year Kevin Nash and Booker T caused the crowd to cheer. Will any legends make returns to the WWE Universe Sunday? What about injured wrestlers returning early? Could this years Royal Rumble match play host to comebacks from guys such as Christian, Rey Mysterio, and Alberto Del Rio? Time shall tell.

I predict Chris Jericho wins the 2012 Royal Rumble match.

If forced to make a prediction, I say Chris Jericho will win the 2012 Royal Rumble match and go on to challenge WWE Champion CM Punk at Wrestlemania XXVIII. There on the grandest stage of them all Punk and Jericho can determine who deserves the moniker best in the world by seeing who leaves Miami, FL Sunday, April 1st, 2012 WWE Champion.

Who do you think will win the 2012 Royal Rumble match and earn a heavyweight title match at Wrestlemania XVIII? Leave a comment with your prediction.

WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2012

January 15th 2012 23:54
This past week the WWE announced The Rated R Superstar Edge and The Four Horsemen (Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and Barry Windham) as inductees into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2012. Edge proves an excellent choice because despite his many career accomplishments hes underappreciated. On the other hand The Four Horsemen come across as a perplexing pick.

Do you question how I can call Edge underappreciated? I think the best explanation involves a comparison to the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. Say Shawn Michaels, first ballot hall of famer. Now say Edge, first ballot hall of famer. For some reason the two dont hold the same ring. HBK seems more deserving yet Edges accomplishments rival Michaels achievements. Early on in his career The Rated R Superstar helped re-popularize the tag team division and pioneer the TLC match. Edges stock really skyrocketed though when he won the first ever Money in the Bank match and cashed in the briefcase to win his first WWE Heavyweight Championship. As a result Edge earned The Ultimate Opportunist moniker. From his battles with todays superstars like Randy Orton and John Cena to wrestling legends such as The Undertaker and Ric Flair no one can deny Edge his rightful spot in the WWE Hall of Fame

Book Review: WWE Rumble Road by Jon Robinson

January 8th 2012 06:32
Over the next few weeks expect some wrestling related reviews coming your way. Im currently reading Chris Jerichos second memoir, Undisputed- How to Become the World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps. I also capitalized on Amazons end of the year sale, getting the Edge and Macho Man Randy Savage DVDs for under $7 each. To kick off the reviews though I will look at WWE Rumble Road, a book I finished reading last week.

Jon Robinson collected road stories from several WWE superstars and divas to create WWE Rumble Road. Overall the book provides an insiders look into life on the road. Do you think you rely heavily on GPS and Hotwire.com? Wait until you see how much wrestlers rely on technology! The pre-digital age stories especially will open your eyes up to how much technology advanced over the past decade or so. By the books end you will also feel like you know the WWE roster better. For instance, did you know Kofi Kingston and Hornswoggle are super tight

December 5th 2011 00:54
On December 1st WWE.coms Michael Burdick teased a WWE Championship redesign with his article Bring It Back!: ANY Classic WWE Title thats Not the Spinner. In the article Burdick discusses old WWE title designs which could come out of retirement and replace the current WWE Championship. The writer also gains insights about the current WWE Title design from current WWE Champion CM Punk and former WWE Champions John Cena and The Miz.
