THE ABRIDGED VERSION.
Hi. I am a website. All of the music is free and cleared with the artists and/or their respective labels. Don’t let it live just on your laptop – put it on your headphones, play it in your car, DJ it out, etc. etc. All you need to know.

THE FULL STORY.
Fresh Selects was founded by Kenny Fresh in the summer of 2008 while he was living just outside of Portland, Oregon. After having already worked closely with Waajeed’s Bling47 Group label and website since he was 17 – the initial idea was to take from those experiences and focus on a promotional music blog that would cover a specific, yet still unlabeled, group of artists that at the time weren’t getting much blog coverage elsewhere.

After a successful first few months filled with almost all exclusive content from both trusted names & emerging talents alike – in early 2009, the brand became an official company, Fresh Selects Media LLC. Acting as an online press agency that would network to aligned blogs and through social media, its list of clients would go on to include both independent and major labels, corporate events and art galleries.

[buncha cool shit that happened in the meantime. cool shit, name dropping, accomplishment swagging etc etc. no one's impressed.]

By August of 2009, the website went on an extended hiatus (which would end up lasting over a year a half) and Fresh Selects shifted its focus to more “real world” promotions and to continue its work within the local music community of Portland. The most notable of these projects was the year-long, corporate-sponsored concert series, VTech Phones & Fresh Selects Presents…, that was held at Portland’s most respected weekly DJ party, The Fix, from February of 2010 until January of 2011. The focus of the series was to bring higher quality acts to the city – including intimate shows with bigger artists at affordable prices, as well as being the first to bring out numerous up-and-coming talents from around the country and introducing them to the city as an effort to bring Portland’s music audience to the cutting edge. Along with bringing the best possible music to Portland, the series also intended to bring Portland to an international audience by both streaming all of the concerts and DJ gigs live each Thursday, as well as professionally filming and recording all of the performances and releasing them digitally later on through multiple mediums – including videos and podcasts.

In March of 2011, FRSH SLCTS came full circle and re-launched its site with the same principles and goals as its original inception – although now the aim was to be more of a digital label than just a blog, and to pro-actively create and curate its content instead of reporting on what already was. The first official project of this new focus will be Waajeed vs. Fresh Selects – a full-length project produced entirely by longtime partner, Waajeed, and curated by KNNY FRSH.
