Hi, I'm

Lin Clark

I believe in open source and linked data.

About

I am a Drupal consultant focusing on ways to share data between sites, particularly using HTML Data syntaxes with HTML5 and Drupal subsystems such as Views and Feeds.

I'm just finishing up my Masters in Computer Science from DERI Galway's Linked Data Research Center, where I had the chance to work with some of the most influential Web Scientists in the field, and I hold a BFA in Design from Carnegie Mellon... but I believe in contribution over credentials.

Drupal Contributor
First and foremost, I am a Drupal contributor. I am a core developer, contrib maintainer, documentation contributor, and one of the DrupalCon dance party starters. I believe in getting more done through community.
Data Practitioner
While at DERI, I played an active role in the RDF in Drupal 7 core initiative and created SPARQL Views as a Google Summer of Code project. I've been leading the effort to integrate microdata in Drupal, created the MicrodataPHP library, and served on the W3C's HTML Data Task Force.
Module Developer
As a module developer, I have experience with core and contrib APIs such as Views and Feeds. I am the creator and maintainer of a number of modules on Drupal.org, most recently Microdata, Web Taxonomy, and Microdata Import, and I have patches in projects such as Fivestar and Zen.
Writer
My articles on Drupal and Linked Data have been featured in IBM's developerWorks, Talis's Nodalities magazine, and CMS Wire, and I have an upcoming piece on Safari Books Online.
Speaker
I've spoken at DrupalCons, DrupalCamps, Linked Data meetups, and conferences from Shanghai to San Francisco.

Microdata in Drupal early preview

On June 2, the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo, and Bing) announced Schema.org, which helps them show search results in a more useful way. The announcement has gotten people really interested in inline structured data such as microdata and RDFa.

This screencast shows how you can use the microdata module to place Schema.org terms. This is an early preview—very few field formatters have microdata support at this time and the module is still changing quite a bit—but I thought people might be interested in the direction the module is heading.

Contact me

If you're interested in module development or HTML data consulting for a project, please get in touch. I am also available for writing and speaking engagements.

If you want to file a bug report or a support request on one of my modules, please do so in the issue queue for that module (I only provide one-on-one email support as a paid service).

My issue queues:

  • Microdata
  • SPARQL Views
  • Microdata Import
  • Web Taxonomy

Shared issue queues:

  • RDFx
  • SPARQL

If you are a developer looking for help with these technologies in your contrib modules, I'm also on IRC.

Find me

For the most part, I only friend, follow, etc. people who I know pretty well in real life... but I love finding new people to geek out with about HTML data and other cool technology, so if you see me at an event and you want to geek out, feel free to introduce yourself :)
