why cloud-dream?

To find inspiration.  To be creative.  To dream.  To have space.  To rediscover…

What will your reason be?

This is mine…

I spend a lot of time in my life thinking about how busy I am. I used to spend a lot of time talking about how busy I am. Until my good friend, Suzie, pointed out that we all are. Life is busy. And I realised that it was up to me to find ways to take a break from the busy-ness. Ways to give my imagination some time to wander. Ways to recharge. Ways to renew my creativity in amongst the daily routine.

Cloud-dreaming popped into my head while my Mum was driving me home after a particularly lovely day out together in Brisbane. After 20 years talking about it and a couple of postponed dates, Mum and I spent the day weaving in and out of every gorgeous boutique and antique shop scattered in Paddington.

It was a perfect day. We reminisced, we coffee-d, we lunched, we window shopped, we wished for a money tree and then over more coffee we chatted about how rich our lives are and what wonderful people we had waiting at home for us.

On the way home we sat in blissful silence and I looked out the window.  I found myself staring at the sky and the clouds and letting my mind drift. The clouds were soft and white and small and dotted that day. I found myself thinking about the fields of white sheep that surround us when we visit DJ’s family in Scotland. I was instantly transported. Happy. Relaxed. Joyful.

I have always loved the sky. I spent many hours as a child lying on our big trampoline staring up at the sky, imagining I was floating away with the clouds. I remember it being happy time. My mind could wander. Isn’t it amazing where your mind goes when you wander in your thoughts? It is like your heart is taking your mind on a meandering little holiday through little streets and alleyways. A different thought and idea at every turn. Another heart skip at every new junction.

And so as I dreamt of sheep grazing beneath the shade of a tree the lightbulb moment arrived.  My way of being inspired and creative despite my busy-ness – my way of wandering:

Once the idea for this project had formed I was wandering around Etsy looking for the perfect cloud for a little something to give away. I stumbled upon Imagination by Naoko.

Naoko captures childhood perfectly. This print took my breath away, not only for its gorgeousness but for its synchronicity with this project. And then I read the words Naoko had written underneath…

Creative mind comes from the times you thought you wasted…
Now, please relax. Something good will happen to you.
Naoko Stoop

Perfect indeed.

Time away from busy-ness is not time wasted. It is time invested. In your heart and imagination. In you.

Why cloud-dream? Why not? Your heart will thank you.
