About

My husband and I are both only children.  We both grew up as only children.  I do have a half sister from my dad’s first marriage.  However, we grew up many states from each other.  We know each other much better now then we ever did growing up.  Though we spacer have many differences, we understand and treasure each others company when we have the chance to get together.

The blog design here was made and designed by me. The tractor in that picture has been in our family for four generations now.  It was sold out of our family back in 1993.  In 2009, my husband bought it back, and it is one of the few things we have from my father’s side of the family.  My father passed away September 16, 1996, (my 20th birthday).  He was a farmer, and I married a farmer.  I married my dad in many respects.  My husband and my father never met.  I am sure my dad would be proud though.  Who would have thought that I would ever have six children, and be happy about that, and pray for more?

Why sunflowers?  My dad’s favorite flower was a yellow rose.  My favorite flower is a yellow rose.  However, yellow roses, don’t quite go with tractors, or prairies.  Where I live during the summer, you can see sunflowers along every ditch and in many pastures.  There are even sunflowers grown for grain now.  So, sunflowers naturally went with my blog’s name, Peace Creek on the Prairie.  I have loved yellow since I was a small child.  My girls’ bedroom is a very pale yellow.  Yellow was going to be part of my blog.

Why red?  Some people will tell you that I am either wearing red or stripes.  Umm, yeah pretty much.  Red is one of my colors.  Why?  I really don’t know.  I like the way it contrast with my hair.  It mixes with jeans well, and you can find me in jeans about all the time.  When our family will be in a crowd, we all wear red–makes it easy to find each other.  Red was meant to be part of this blog.

This blog is about my world.  My world as a stay at home homeschooling mother, christian, wife, woman, child of God.  It is about my life as a farmer’s wife, as a cook, a baker, a nurse, a teacher, a woodworker, a housekeeper, a farmer (yep, I drive tractors, pick up hay bales, and other farm duties), a gardener.   So, what you read here, is me, as a transparent sometimes hot headed, passionate, and opinionated person.

This blog is a ministry for women in whatever walk you are. I was not always a Christian, and have fallen away and crawled back.  You can see the real person that I am here.  There are days I struggle, there are days I am on a high that only God can give.  There are days I am so low, only God can pull me through.  My words of encouragement, advice and love come from Him.  My passion for all things in my life comes from Him.  So, pull up a chair, grab some chocolate and a cup of cappuccino, get to know me through the pages of my life here on the prairie where the sunflowers bloom and the groan of tractors working the fields are as normal as the pavement and sounds of honking horns in a city.  Here at Peace Creek on the Prairie it is peaceful, with the sounds of children laughing, tractors groaning, and mom working hard to follow God’s journey along His chosen path.
