bit of book-trivia:
In February of 1953, a young author began working on the manuscript for what would later become his first book. Finishing the manuscript in a matter of months, the author, an avid birdwatcher- happened to have a copy of this field-guide to Birds of the West Indies on his desk when publishers called asking for the name of the novel’s main character.
The author took the name of his main character from an american ornithologist and an expert in Caribbean birds, James Bond. The young author, Ian Fleming would later publish his manuscript as the spy thriller Casino Royale- the first of twelve novels & nine short stories that would define the spy genre and create one of the most iconic characters of the 20th century.

Lorem Ipsum profiled as creative community space, Boston Phoenix
This week’s Boston Phoenix features a look the emergence of Boston’s new generation of ‘nontraditional, cooperative work places’ attempting to redefine the notion of community space. We’re proud to have been featured as one of many organizations that have attempted to create a greater, reconfigured sense of community in the greater Boston area. Seeing so many collaborators past and present, sharing print on one page makes it hard to ignore the rising tide of innovative organizations and creative individuals that are swiftly reshaping Boston’s sense of local community.
In Phoenix boxes and newsstands this week, be sure to check it out!

This anthology is in fact a collection of three distinct, separate genres. Disappointingly enough; we’re told that Western-Detective-Science-Fiction is not a single genre- not yet anyway.
(but it probably should be)
