Experimental Composers:
Andrew Lamb, New Orleans Suite
Hosted by David Weinstein
Originally aired on Monday, August 22nd, 2011

Andrew Lamb, a jazz saxophonist and flautist who heavily influenced New York City's avant-garde community in the 70s, sits down with music aficionado and concert producer Glenn Leslie to discuss his beginnings in music and where his talent has taken him. In the past Lamb has won a Brooklyn Arts Council grant for his work, has been a member of the Cecil Taylor band, and frequently performed at New York City's annual Vision Festival since 1996. According to Steve Loewy of Allmusic.com, "Lamb's detailed liner notes describe a serious musician seeking to uplift his soul through art, and... Lamb's vehicle is the psalm-like expression of his tenor saxophone." If you'd like to read more of Loewy's review just click here. Tracks included in this show feature pieces from Lamb's album New Orleans Suite, "Rescue Me" and "Katrina's Path" as well as songs like "Hues of Destiny" and "Dogon." Enjoy!

This program is dedicated to the producer's favorite girl, Jeanne Leslie.
