Weight Loss

I wish I could tell you that there was a fast and easy way to lose weight.  There are plenty of easy ways to lose weight, but they aren’t fast.  And there are plenty of fast ways to lose weight too, but they aren’t easy. Or fun. Or safe.

Real, lasting weight loss is not going to happen overnight. There is no magic bullet and there are no short cuts that work for long.

You can definitely lose the weight you’ve always wanted to lose, but it’s definitely going to mean some work and effort on your part. It’s not always going to be easy, but nothing worth having ever is.

It’s going to mean doing your educating yourself and doing your homework.  There is probably going to be a lot of soul searching and digging deep to get to the bottom of some your deeply ingrained habits and patterns. You will chip away at it all piece by piece. Some days it will feel like you’ve made amazing progress and are moving forward with ease.  Other days it is going to feel like you’ve taken three steps back and are ready to give up completely.

But why not give it a shot? The time is going to pass either way. What if you could emerge at some future point in body you feel amazing in?

What could that Future You look like? What could that Future You feel like? You can absolutely look and feel amazing if you’re willing to put in the effort and do the work that it takes to get there.

My weight loss journey began a long time ago. I’ve learned a lot along the way and I’m still learning.  I can tell you though that being smaller is wonderful.  Yoga is easier. Running is easier. Physical activity of all kinds is easier. I run faster now because there is less of me to move forward. Yoga is a lot less uncomfortable than it use to be because there is less of me to hold up and get in the way during poses.

Although I’m sure that all sounds far from humble, I’m frank because I want to express how different and good it feels to be smaller.  Even 35 lbs smaller!  I want to relay that it CAN happen for you too, as impossible as it may feel right at this moment.

What follows here is a collection of some of the many lessons I’ve learned on my journey to my healthy weight.  I share what I’ve learned in the hope that this might help you on your journey too.
