Welcome to The Last of the Polar Bears, a work-in-progress graphic novel about a mother polar bear and her two cubs in the warming Arctic of the near future. I’ve spent the last year developing and plotting out the story in detail from beginning to end, and now I’m ready to move forward with the creation of the comic itself! Every week I’ll post new pages, two at a time, in a book spread format. I look forward to introducing you this little guy and the rest of his family, and hope you’ll join us on their epic journey across the harsh environment and into maturity.

(In case you missed the announcement previously, I’m currently working on storyboarding The Last of the Polar Bears in its entirety. There will be a big relaunch for LOTPB early 2012, and regular weekly updates. Really exciting stuff planned. The whole next year will be devoted to my bears! )

From Illustration School: Let’s Draw Cute Animals by Sachiko Umoto. Part of an adorable series of drawing books. I just adore Sachiko Umoto’s charming illustrations and whimsical approach to making cute animals that’s simple enough for anyone to follow. Reminds me of the Ed Emberley drawing books I loved so much as a kid.
