It really is amazing what we sports fans will go completely bonkers over. This is the latest story that makes me want to find a few thousand of my closest friends and actually throw confetti in the air with wild reckless abandon. Yes. I’m that excited about the possibility.

First and Foremost, A huge Hello to my pal, and yours, Gene Anderson. Here’s a brief note from Gene I got on Tuesday night off of Facebook.
Gene: “well heck-the family is keeping you guys up to date. I can’t add to it so tomorrow I’ll talk about the best apple juice ever.” We can hardly wait Mr. Anderson!

I drew this cartoon for Universal Press (my syndicate) in the almost near stupor of completing my Super Bowl Cartoon Marathon for ESPN.com on Sunday night/Monday morning. I must admit. All-nighters are much harder than they used to be but there simply is no other way to do the 10 cartoons I needed to do (9 for the SB blog and the 1 for the syndicate.) Any way, I hope you enjoy. And if you know a Patriots fan, it’s the perfect little “in your face” cartoon to e-mail every few days or so until the start of next season. Just a thought.

My Super bowl Blog for ESPN.com. Kurt Snibbe did one from the Giants point of view! But first this Update on Gene Anderson from his wife: This is JoEllyn writing… For those who don’t know-Gene had a stroke last Thursday and is recovering at Methodist. We have had many prayers answered but many more are still needed and will continue to be needed for a long time. Pneumonia, feeding peg, rehab, etc. No one should need to learn all the things we have had to in the past few days. Thanks for keeping the prayers coming!
And now averting a delay of game penalty I bring you:

AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE WHO READ MY CARTOONS: I’ve never met Gene Anderson, yet he has been a part of my life every single day since the News closed. For almost three solid years He has faithfully left me encouraging comments about the day’s cartoon on my blog site. Comments that have kept me at times from giving up the blog and moving on to other ventures. Tonight Gene is an Omaha hospital after having suffered an apparent stroke. I’m asking all of you for PRAYERS AND POSITIVE THOUGHTS to go his direction. He is a remarkable man, friend, brother, husband and father, and guys like that are rare. He needs us. Please feel free to leave him a note here. I know he’ll see them soon.
