….  About Hybrid Genesis ….

Hybrid Genesis was first born online in January 2003. It started as a personal portfolio for my digital work just for a good few months, but it all changed due to some requests by people that I’d share my own resources as well. I’ve always been creating my digital work using only my own resource (brushes and textures). I digitally paint/draw my own brushes with my Photoshop and create my own textures using those self created brushes. People asked me to share them since they’re ‘different‘ from others out there.

As time went by, my work became more known by more people, the demands increased and I gave in. I decided to become a full time resource provider as well. My brushes were born and were named ‘Insomniac Brushes‘ back then. I also was an active Livejournal user which made some of my work known using my other alias ‘Inxsomniax‘ textures and brushes. Since then, it’s grown so big that some months this site had to be closed down due to the super heavy traffic it received. But no matter what I kept bringing the site and my work back because of the many  loyal supporters and followers out there.

That’s right. HG wouldn’t have been here this long if not for the level of loyalty, generosity and kindness of its followers. HG has been featured in a few design/Photoshop magazines from around the world in the past 8 years or so.  It’s also been used for many various design projects by other artists either for online or offline publishing such as CD covers and a few advertisement medias. I am forever grateful for all of that’s happened and been offered to me for my work. I certainly never ever expected my work to be known that well at all. I can say with most sincerity that it’d never have happened without everyone’s love and support of this site through out the many years it’s been around.

I dedicated almost all of my spare time in creating and producing as much high quality resources for everyone to enjoy so that I can keep showing my appreciation to you all. I love making art and I love sharing them with the world.

…. About The Artist ….

My name is Cynthia, but I’ve been known more as ‘Thia’ around the net, or even at home. It’s just shorter and easier to say than Cynthia. So my parents started calling me Thia since I was a little girl. I live in Australia, have been married to my wonderful husband for 13 years and we have FOUR beautiful children. My husband has been my constant best friend and been nothing but wonderfully supportive in everything that I do. spacer

I’ve been creating art, designing pages of artwork since little. I’ve always loved to draw – even if I’m not that good at it, that’s why I’m more of an Abstract artist than anything else. If I was told to draw a self portrait or still life landscape, sure, no problem. But when I’m told to draw animals?? Oh, no! I can not, for the life of me draw animals. I just can’t.. but then again, I have never really tried, since I was never interested in drawing them in the first place. So I’ve never really thought about it.

My inspirations come from music, poetry, colors and the smallest details in/on things that I see around me. I’m a perfectionist when it comes to art, even if it’s a messy art. I pay too much attention to details that I always take a long time to see that an artwork is ‘finished’. It’s pretty annoying, I think?! spacer But that’s just me. I can’t run away from it even if I try. I’m a self taught in digital art. I didn’t get to finish my Diploma in Interactive Multimedia due to life circumstances – therefore I had to get online and learn everything on my own. Everything that I know about web designing/authoring came from my own research and long hours of determination for wanting to be a good web designer one day! So… a lot of people asked me, if I had a degree in designing and the answer is a big No. It’s been tough, a huge struggle.. but I’m still learning everyday. I’ll never give up because it is my passion. I might not be successful in it, but I love it, and I will work my hardest to create the best work for others and myself.

I’m keeping this site alive because it’s my first baby, and I am proud to have been sharing it with the world. HG reminds me of who I am whenever I feel lost. It also reminds me that I’m never alone in this.. I have found so many great friends through this website and through sharing my work here. I’m grateful, everyday, to have this site as a place where I can share a little bit of me with everyone else.

Dear visitors, you’re all appreciated and I hope you enjoyed your stay on this website.

Much Love,

~Thia
