Internet Censorship Will Destroy - (And Not Fix the Problem)

CONGRESS IS CONSIDERING A LAW THAT WOULD CENSOR THE WEB. While that might sound like a good thing...IT'S NOT! These proposed regulations could destroy businesses (like ebay, and Craigslist) and blogs (like mine and yours), social networks (like Facebook and Twitter), search engines (like Google), sites with valuable information (like Wikipedia -which is supporting the blackout today!)

Seriously... if a child in your home were to sing a copyrighted song and you put it on your blog, according to these new regulations, you could be shut down or sued! These proposed regulations not only wouldn't keep piracy from happening - but it would destroy the internet as we know it!

Please watch this video to understand the issue better - and then take action to help support the fight against this new legislation!

On the Tuesday 24th January 2012, the US Senate will vote on the internet censorship bill. Let's tell them VOTE NO!!

A Single Act That Changes Everything

“Remember when we said that grief was the strongest thing a person could feel? Well, it isn’t. It’s forgiveness, because a single act of forgiveness can change everything.”
-The Tale of Despereaux

I’m not even sure I took the time to examine that saying the first time I heard it. Like I’ve acknowledged many times before … I’m a "lover" - that is, I believe in Love. If love is the most important thing to feel, how can forgiveness be the strongest?

We know with absolution that life inevitably wounds. We’ve been rejected. We’ve been torn down. We’ve been victimized by ignorance and arrogance. We’ve seen fresh, young life fade away. We’ve watched love’s clones be forged and slowly decompose.

Worse yet …

We’ve victimized. We’ve broken. We’ve destroyed.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
-1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Does our idea of love – the love we hand out – look like that? If not, why?

I think I’ve figured it out. Forgiveness has to be the strongest thing we feel, because without it, we would never be able to love our enemies. We would never be able to put away the past – past failures and regrets would chase us off the path that leads to our potential. Our love would never be able to look like the Love the Word of God describes. Forgiving … ourselves, others, and happenstance … is the only act we can perform that can, in a moment, send us spiraling into a life that begins and ends with embracing the infinite nature of Love.

I believe in love, because I believe in a Divine Being that is Love. I believe in forgiveness, because I believe in a Love that forgave me.

Winners!

First off, I have to say that (in regards to my last post) you all have great taste in Thanksgiving food! I agree with my "Auntie Em" (September) that the very best is a warm, buttery roll ... which, I didn't actually get this year. I did have rolls with butter, but none of them were fresh and warm, which was sad ... but luckily, that's not something I only ever get on Thanksgiving! As far as "Thanksgiving only" food goes, I agree with Joni - stuffing is delicious! See how addicted to bread I must be? :P

Ok, on to a subject that won't exacerbate the condition of my rapidly expanding waistline. :)

Who's ready for me to announce these winners?
