spacer About Me
I’m Steve Streeting, a software developer based on a little rock called Guernsey, an island off the coast of Normandy, France. I’m British by passport, but technically I and my fellow islanders owe fealty only to the Duke of Normandy – now one of the Queen of England’s alts since she inherited from William the Conqueror – and the British parliament has no authority here. It’s complicated.

I’ve been developing software professionally since 1994 and have worked in all sorts of environments starting on mainframe systems, via Unix minis, some desktop software on Windows and Mac, and the web. I spent 10 years leading the open source 3D graphics engine ‘OGRE‘, and started a company, Torus Knot Software Ltd, in 2004 mostly doing contract work and commercial products around that. My code ended up powering the graphics for games, scientific visualisation tools, effects editors, interactive art and museum exhibits, and goodness knows where else.

In 2007 I bought my first Mac, primarily at the time so that I could provide more direct support for OS X in OGRE, but it slowly wormed its way into my heart as my preferred platform. In 2010 I started writing commercial applications specifically for OS X and Apple devices, my first of which is SourceTree.

If you like you can view my LinkedIn Profile, or you can follow me on Twitter.

In other news, I play drums and guitar barely adequately, and I’m happily married to my other half, Marie. Not that it’s any of your business spacer

Things I Love: Gadgets, open source software, music, travelling, good restaurants, left-of-centre politics, comedy, Sci-Fi / Fantasy books / shows / films, Marmite.

Things I Hate: Reality TV, expensive crappy software, fast food, sushi.
