Dismount Creative offers social DIY craft classes in Houston, TX and at events around the country. Every project is carefully designed to be on-trend, achievable without prior experience and completed in a few hours. The Dismount Creative blog is updated twice a day with everything that inspires me in fashion, craft, design, decor and lifestyle. Some of my most popular posts are my DIY projects. I started blogging to support my classes and events but now it’s become a big part of my business. Hi! I’m Alicia DiRago. I’m a recovering chemical engineer turned DIY/fashion/design/craft enthusiast. I started Dismount Creative in an effort to make friends after my husband’s job took us from Chicago, IL to Houston, TX. When I couldn’t find the kind of classes + events I was looking for I decided to start holding them myself. (By the way, it worked. I have friends here now!)
I decided to start blogging to connect with other DIY craft and fashion lovers and share my projects and inspiration. When I’m not blogging, teaching or traveling I enjoy yoga, snowboarding, homebrewing (and drinking!) really hoppy beer and watching the Chicago Bears with my husband.
The dismount in Dismount Creative comes from my background as a competitive gymnast. I wanted my blog and classes to give women the opportunity to dismount, or step away from, their busy lives and experience the joy of making something. So many people tell me that they “aren’t creative,” but I often find that they haven’t even given themselves an opportunity to try! I create that opportunity. (Wine helps.)
