Lewes Ladies player Naomi Cole has been picked by England manager Hope Powell to join the England U23 squad for the Four Nations tournament in La Manga, Spain later this month.

Naomi joins players from Arsenal, Birmingham, Chelsea, and Everton in the 18 player squad set to face Sweden, Norway and the USA. 

The defender also becomes the first Lewes player ever to be called up for senior international duty.

Lewes manager Jacquie Agnew was unsurprisingly pleased for the player she brought to the club earlier this season, initially on loan from Chelsea until she signed for Lewes before Christmas.

Commenting on the call up she said: "We're all delighted that her hard work this season has been recognised."

"For Lewes to have an international player is truly magnificent and it's a great honour not only for Naomi but also for the club itself."

Everyone at Lewes FC echoes Jacquie's comments and we wish Naomi all the very best whilst she's representing her country on international duty.

The Ladies are due to travel to MK Dons on Sunday, subject to the weather, before entertaining Enfield in the Ryman League Cup semi final at the Pan on Wednesday 8th February, kick off 7.45pm.
