Cookeen @ Cornell

First semester DONE AND DONE.  It feels like it flew by yet at the same time so many memories have been made and friendships formed.

As I was looking through the photos on my phone trying to come up with a story to describe my time at Cornell so far, I realize how much has happened since those first few days I stepped on campus to where I stand right now.

I came to Cornell eager for a new experience and ready to embrace everything.  I didn’t know that the people I met would have already impacted me so much.  I didn’t understand how such strong relationships could be built in just a few months. And I certainly did not expect to have met such amazing people who are generous in their actions and always there for you.

Let’s start from the beginning.

We arrived and I took captured the view from the hotel room.  Silly me didn’t realize I would get to see that every day, Like this…

Oh my.

This amazing bagel fueled my long day of unpacking-CTB Bagel toasted with Tofutti cream cheese, lox, tomatoes, onions and capers.  Best bagel ever.  This bagel has also fueled late library nights.

That takes skill.

There was homecoming…

Where I might have looked like a candy cane…

We also went to apple fest and took cute pictures in this cage.  I have never had a better apple than the ones I got at Apple Fest.  Just saying.

Got dressed up for formalz…aren’t we bootiful?

BIG RED HOCKEY.  #Obsessed.

I also spent a weekend in NYC with fellow Hotelies for the Hotel Show

spacer

We ate Shake Shack after hearing the CEO speak to us

spacer

Got a tour of the Food Network

spacer

Where my friend and I thought we were TV Hosts…

spacer

Roamed around Central Park

spacer \

And got all fancy for events

spacer

And enjoyed every moment

spacer

Happy Holidays at the Statler! Christmas trees make 8:40 am classes on Fridays more BEARable.

spacer

And nothing beats “family dinners” with my friends…

That’s just a brief glipse into the past few months and I hope to continue sharing photos (and hopefully recipes) in the future!

With love and cupcakes,

{It’s} About Time

spacer

by Chelsey on September 12, 2011

HI! I will be back eventually with a post about college, it’s been the most amazing thing yet I am super duper busy so for now here is a review about About Time protein powder…Enjoy!

After having tonsillitis and my wisdom teeth out this summer, smoothies have become a major obsession of mine.  However, often I was left hungry again a few hours after.  I started added about 1/2 or 1 tbsp of almond butter to them which helped tide me over more, but I knew a protein powder would work too.  I knew nothing about protein powder and usually make fun of guys for being obsessed with their “supplements” but I remembered reading about About Time on Jenny’s blog and thought the flavors sounded really good! The company sent me some sample packets to try and I have to say, protein powder does keep you full longer! Plus, it made the smoothies creamy without adding a banana! spacer I loved the chocolate protein powder with frozen cherries and mixed berries.

spacer

Birthday cake and cinnamon swirl were also delicious with cherries and mixed berries, but I feel it would have been better with just a banana or something so you could taste the “cake” and cinnamon flavor more.

spacer

There nutritional facts are also pretty impressive, same as adding about a tablespoon of peanut butter in terms of calories but with less fact, carbohydrates and slightly more than triple the protein!

Since I was leaving for school that week, I forgot decided not to buy bananas to freeze as I knew no one in my family would use them.  Luckily, the protein powder created that wonderful texture without being chalky, as I read many protein powders do!

spacer

I would definitely buy the About Time brand and I loved their flavors and can’t wait to try the mocha mint when I go home!

They also sent me a bar, however, it was a Coconut Carob flavor, and while I am ALL for carob, there is something about coconut that sceeves me out, so I gave the bar to my dad to try and get his feedback, and he enjoy it.  Both of us weren’t huge fans of the calorie count, as I prefer eating a meal to a little bar, but it was definitely filling.

Well, I am off to run to dinner then class!

Hope to be back soon!

With love and cupcakes,
