About/FAQ

Q: What’s this about?
A: These are illustrations of conversations. I use encounters, confrontations, and staircase wit from my own life combined with photographs of my surroundings to illustrate dialogues. The comic updates Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with bonus features “Spam and Eggs” on Saturday and “Pictures from Inside” on Sunday. (There was also “Tales of the BossLady” for a while.)

Q: What does “CMcL” stand for?
A: My initials.

Q: Isn’t this just another “A Softer World” ripoff?
A: Nah; these are single-panel dialogues, ASW is three-panel monologues.

Q: Are these actual conversations that you’ve had with people?
A: Every dialogue is some fraction of autobiographical; some are from my childhood, others are more recent. They’re all real, but may have been abridged somewhat or edited to remove personally identifiable information. I am not always the hero of my own conversations.

Q: Where do you get these photos?
A: All the photos were taken by me. Many of them are several years old. I wander around in the woods a lot. I almost never photograph human beings. I’ve been using Canon Powershot cameras for a long time because they fit easily into a jacket pocket. Someday I might upgrade to something better. Q: Do you sell prints?
A: I sell prints of some of the photos without the comic text at this time, yes. You can see my ImageKind gallery by clicking here. If there’s a photo you’re interested in but don’t see it in the gallery, drop me a line.

Q: Should the text be read from left to right?
A: Just start at the top of the image and work your way down, moving left or right as the dialogue progresses.

Q: Who are you?
A: I’m C. McLaughlin. I live in Florida. I have yet to be attacked by an alligator, but when my number comes up, I have a strong feeling that that’s the way I’ll be going.

Q: These aren’t funny and your pictures suck.
A: …Thank you for pointing that out.

The last was was neither accurate, nor a question.

Don’t ask me why I said “was” twice, cause I don’t know, lol.

You could have gotten away with it if you’d put the was after the nor and put an it after it, always remember to pay for priority type movement when word smithing.
