What a riot!
You know, we'd have run this cartoon, even if downtown Vancouver hadn't erupted into flamey smokey riots last night. Now everyone's going to think we're making fun of the rioters. Oh well, you can't win 'em all.

The Madness of Kingmaker Tom
Hello, and welcome to our new political cartoon blog, Drapetomaniacal!
Who are we? The creative team from the variety comics website Riotfish.com. Long time readers will have noticed the occasional political cartoon on our main website, but because the world seems to be increasingly lost in an insanely self destructive tailspin, we've decided to start up a secondary site dedicated entirely to that old bugbear we like to refer to as "reality". There will be no set schedule for Drapetomaniacal, but we expect the cartoons and such to pile up swiftly.
So, what is "drapetomania"? Simply put, it's a supposed form of mental illness identified in America during the 19th century, said to afflict slaves who were suddenly gripped with a desire to flee their masters. We're feeling particularly gripped ourselves as of late, but unfortunately there's nowhere left to run.
We'll start out with a reaction to the news that a police investigation into University of Calgary political science professor, and former Prime Ministerial advisor, Tom Flanagan, has been dropped. Last year this racist bag of bones called for Julian Assange's assassination on live television, and not unsurprisingly, he got away with it, despite quite a bit of public outcry. Flanagan did apologize, but not without bending the laws of time and space, not to mention irony, to its breaking point, by ending his apology by calling Wikileaks 'malicious'.
Ka-pow!
Cue the cartoon.
