The Sexy Girls Podcast Episode 4: Al Rio
No one ever drew Fairchild better.
As someone who was inspired by Al Rio, I was shocked to hear of his death. He was and always will be one of my favorite comic artists. I think I speak for everyone on the show when I say that we will miss Al Rio.
This is a fairly short episode, so after the mid-show commercial break, you’ll get to hear some bonus audio that we recorded with Pablo Praino.

Episode 64: Batman Year One
Exiled: A Jim Gordon Story
Tonight on Animation Aficionados, we cover Batman: Year One. This is an animated movie based off the groundbreaking graphic novel and post-crisis reboot of Batman after Crisis. I appreciate what the movie intended to do, however in the end, I think the movie overall fell short.
Topics Covered:
The Art missing the rawness
Being too literal in an adaptation
Classic Noir storytelling
You either Die a hero…. or live long enough to have adaptation decay
The Catwoman Short is Better

Episode 63: Inspector Gadget
(Quick note to Geekcast listeners: Our extended review of “The Green Loontern” will be available on Friday, February 9.)
"I'm always on duty!"
Tonight we talk about Inspector Gadget with Space Captain Steve, creator of Blade Kitten.
Perhaps DiC’s finest show from back in the day, Inspector Gadget blew away nearly everything else that was on children’s TV at the time. Little did we know that were seeing the dawn of Japanese animation for American television, a practice that would later become standard in shows like Transformers, GI Joe, Thundercats, and Ghostbusters.
We go off topic a lot, as we compare Gadget to the likes of Inspector Clouseau, Maxwell Smart, Robocop, and even Dyno-Mutt! We also establish a continuity connection that links Inspector Gadget to Super Mario Bros., GI Joe, and classic WWF.
This message will self destruct.

Bonus:
Mentioned in the episode is the special Best Of at1UP, featuring the theory that Boba Fett is actually a bumbling idiot. Later in this podcast, the 1UP staff tries to guess what the Blade Kitten game is about. See?! There are all these connections!

Episode 62: Green Lantern Emerald Knights
As long as I'm on this show, you can always count on me to highlight the girl in the leotard.
The best comes to those who wait. Our expanded edition of the Emerald Knights review once again features Mike “TFG1″ Blanchard of the Geekcast Radio Network. In this exciting episode, we cover another set of DC animated stories compiled into a film. However, unlike Gotham Knight, which was a disjointed mess of barely-connected stories, this one actually comes together at the end in a satisfying way. The stories were hit-or-miss, but there is enjoyable stuff here, particularly Laira (and no, I don’t just mean her costume).
Expanded content in this episode includes our standard cold opening, plus a whole middle section that you’ll not hear in the Tooncast Beyond version of this show. Additionally, we have short conversation with 1UP‘s Bob Mackey plus a tease for next week’s show. Be sure to check out Bob’s podcast, Retronauts.
Topics Covered:
Laira’s hot
Arisia is jailbait
Kilowog is a poozer
Mogo vs. Unicron – Who wins???
Batman and the Golden Lagoon
Green Lantern's greatest weakness: That yellow metal that Autobots always use.
