One of the food I discovered this summer was the yummy Palitaw. Yes, you heard that right. It’s my first time to sample it. Anyways, Palitaw is a small sweet flat rice cake eaten in the Philippines. And I know most, if not all, Filipino had tried it but in my defense I’m kind of picky when it comes to food and I don’t like the plain white look of it. But last April when I was in Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental I got a chance to try this kakanin and all I could say is — deliciouso!

In my previous post, I’d written about my love for Food Magazine, especially their back issues and that I’ll share some of their easy and yummy recipes, especially the Easy toaster oven recipes. It’s easy, fast and delicious food in just a few 10 to 30 minutes. Isn’t that nice? You don’t need to have a baking oven to make your favorite chocolate lave cake.  All you need is an oven toaster.

Well, here’s the recipe of the Chocolate Lava Cakes from the Food magazine. Enjoy!

Food Magazine back issues is love!

Since last November 2010, I fell in love with Food Magazine. I’ve been buying their back issues at SM for their Food menu guide, cook ‘s nook and home basics contents. Yes, as in Food magazine offers the easiest recipes ever, like the easy toaster oven recipes in their August 2010 issue. I so love it!

Anyways, I tried the toaster oven recipes and I could say it’s really good. It’s a great alternative if you don’t have a standard oven as it is easy and fast.

The first Mango Tree Bistro in the Philippines opens a few weeks back at the Trinoma Mall and I had the privilege to attend the event. It was a fun-filled night of good music and great food. Chef Pitaya Phanpehnsophon also showed us how to make his signature salad and he also introduced us to Thai common spices like kaffir lime leaves and galangal.
