    [...] ThunderCast #56: 2011 Thunder New Year’s Resolutions [...]

Great show! I have a New Year’s Resolution to add to that. Why is Nick Collison the only one that draws charges and other offensive fouls? I never really thought about it until we played the Spurs and every time any Thunder player drove the lane, there was a wall of 3 players that would instantly form. They wouldn’t try to block the shot, they would try to draw the charge. It was a really effective way to protect the rim for players who can’t jump like Ibaka. Another advantage is when attempting to draw a charge, you can’t be pump faked out of position. I love the way Ibaka plays in the lane, not recommending he starts trying to draw charges but Krstic, Green, Sefolosha and maybe even Durant and Westbrook need to do that. I know it hurts, I know it’s not fun, I know it doesn’t make Sportscenter but it’s the lunch-pail mentality that wins games.

    Mark,
Great points! I agree that Collison exhibits disciplines we’d like to see transfer to our other front-court players. Taking charges is certainly one such example. Appreciate hearing from you!
