Are you scared of sharks??

If you've stopped by my page in the past, you will know that I write a fair bit about sharks... That is simply because I think they are cool.
But i've used my astute powers of observation to note that, some people aren't as keen on them as I and I want to try to find out what is going on...

I'm going to ask the good folk of Orble to classify yourselves into a shark appreciation category. They are as follows:

Sharkophile (there's probably an actual word for this, but I don't know it, so sharkophile stands) You actively like sharks. You think they are pretty cool and don't think they should be hunted. You belong to groups which actively try to save sharks.

If you saw a homeless shark in the street, you'd take it in, give it a meal and a place to stay.

I like sharks: You wouldn't sleep with one, but yeah, they're alright. You don't think they necessarily deserve the bad rap they have, but they do have lots of teeth. You'd sign a petition or something to protect them, but you don't actively campaign for them.
If you saw one busking in the street, you'd find some change to give it.

Ambivalent: You can take or leave sharks. You don't think of them very often, but they are probably not all bad. They have bitten a few people, but that's the risk you take in the ocean. You can think of other sea creatures you'd help, but if you saw one busking, you'd listen and throw it some change if it were any good.

I don't like sharks: You still haven't forgotten how creeped out and scared 'Jaws' made you. You can't imagine why anyone would want to save something with so many teeth, and a real ability to wreck your day at the beach. If you saw one busking, you'd report it to the cops!!!

Sharkopath: You have a pathological dislike for sharks. You like it when you hear about their declining numbers because you figure that soon, it will be safe to go back in the water. At the moment though, even roadside puddles give you the heebie jeebies and you have not taken a bath since you were 6. If you saw a shark busking, you'd run screaming - arms flailing - to the nearest public convenience.

As a diver, I love to see sharks... but that isn't to say I want to be tasted by one!!!

James... you are a shameless whore, but your shark post is a good one and anything that helps people understand sharks is a good thing.

I've had a morbid fascination with sharks since I was a little kid. I thought I'd be petrified around them, but then I swam with a few in Florida and they were so gracefully beautiful.

I still get creeped out in murky water, though.

Last summer, I was snorkelling with my girlfriend in Sydney Harbour. It was too murky to see much so we pulled up. She was spurting something about being scared of sharks, so we went back to shore... I thought she was just frightened of them, but it turns out that she saw one, meters from her face. Probably a Port Jackson, harmless, but still scary to see face-2-face, I guess.

Hey Cib!!

I am getting the feeling that you are a bit of a lover of the old marine critters!!
I am so jealous of you in Sydney having the Port Jackson... it is such a beautiful shark and fascinating in it's breeding habits (not that I'm a perv or anything!!)... You also have a good population of seahorses and pipefish as well as seals - lucky devils!!!

My most peaceful diving was in the Carribean when i thought there were no deadly sharks, i forgot about Mako, Hammerhead, tigers,.... i just figured, no great whites, happy days

Glad you are a shark fan though... there are actually a few of us out there... but our voices tend to be drowned out by the mad shrieking of the sharkopaths!!!!

Sharks scare me, i used 2 love them!
but ever since i nearly got killed by a great white, i dislike them, and im petrified 2 go in the ocean now.

I'm scared of sharks sadly

Great white was one my favorite animasl until i one day when i was 5 years old and i watched a video clip i used to watch but that day i got ver very scared and im still scared. My favorite sport is vindsurfing and i like regular surfing as well so i try to get rid of my fear
