spacer Immortals star Henry Cavill, who’s wrapping up production on the next Superman film Man of Steel, is currently in talks to top line Legendary East’s film The Great Wall, Variety reports.
The Great Wall will be directed by Edward Zwick (The Last Samurai, The Siege, Blood Diamond, Defiance), from a script he co-wrote with Marshall Herskovitz.

The story looks at the mystery behind how China’s Great Wall was constructed from a story conceived by Legendary Pictures chairman Thomas Tull and Max Brooks. It will be the first movie hatched from the Legendary East banner, which launched in June with Tull and Asian investors, with the goal of producing one or two event films a year.

Cavill previously had a role on Showtime’s The Tudors and recently starred in Relativity Film’s Immortals.

Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead remake, Watchmen, Sucker Punch) is directing Man of Steel, which hits theaters on June 14, 2013.
