Binary Entertainment, established in February of 2008 by Los Angeles transplants Josh Legg and Kyle Petersen, is a full service music company aimed at providing a flexible business model that can quickly adjust to the modern artist’s ever-changing needs. In addition to functioning primarily as an artist management company, Binary lives in the world of recorded music through Binary Records, handles publishing and licensing opportunities for artists, and is involved in event promotion here in the city of Los Angeles and beyond.

Rising out of the heavy distorted sound of the electro-centric DJ culture of LA in the late 2000′s, Binary and their roster of artists began to lay the foundations for the signature Dreamwave sound Binary has become known for. Taking inspiration from the dance pop sounds of the 1980′s and invoking images of the palm tree laden beaches and neon laced streets of Los Angeles, the Dreamwave sound has grown to influence countless artists and was listed as something to look out for in 2011 by NME magazine. Binary’s focus on songwriter/producers and their efforts to bring quality songwriting back to the world of electronic music has built a catalog that has won the respect of music critics and listeners alike.

After playing a major role in bringing cutting edge electronic artists such as Miami Horror, Holy Ghost!, The Twelves, Bag Raiders, Anoraak, and many more, to LA for performances, and through the continued success of the influential Binary blog, 2011 has seen the rise of Binary Records. The label has released a string of acclaimed records, including the much-loved single “Dreams” by Futurecop! and Keenhouse, EPs from recent Binary signees Flashlights and Joypopp, and Binary veterans Fabian and Short Circuit. With mentions from important media outlets such as NME, Filter, RCRD_LBL, and more, dozens of television and online media song placements, and continued collaboration with rising songwriting and production talents that shape today’s pop music landscape, Binary strives to maintain the quality of the artists that have already set the label apart, and to promote their vision that has continued to influence artists and inspire fans around the world.
