Meet the Smiles Behind the Blog

If you have landed on this page then you must want to know a little bit more about the face behind the blog. So let me introduce myself. My name is Colleen Shibley and I am a blogaholic. I have no intentions of entering rehab for my addiction it is something I have decided to live with.

I have been married to the love of my life, Chris since May 9, 1998. I have three wonderful (at times) children. Two boys Christopher (aka Buddy) and Nicholas (aka Nick), and one beautiful independent girl Ericka (aka Honey). We currently live in South Florida and though I was not born here I do consider myself a true Floridian in heart and soul.  I have resided in Florida for most of my life and do not plan on moving any time soon. I love living near the beach!

I began my blogventure in July of 2010 and haven’t looked back once. Ok maybe I’ve looked back a time or two to see who was following me. Shibley Smiles is a place for me to share just about anything and everything. With three children ranging in the ages from teenager to toddler I believe I have a pretty good understanding of children and what makes them make us tick. You will often find post with advice and solicitation for advice. You cannot have three children without developing a sense of humor, so look for some of my weekly post such as “Kids Say the Cutest Things”.

Besides parenting I have a pretty good knowledge of nutrition and exercise. Since the birth of my first son it always seems to be something fore most in my mind. You will find that I post a weekly update regarding my weight loss battle, some healthy recipes, and an occasionally fitness review.  I try to post tips to my readers on how to incorporate exercise and healthy eating into their lifestyle.


The goal for my blog is continuous growth. I would like to attract new loyal readers and build a solid platform to offer companies a place where we can work together to bring value to the both of us. How do I do this you may ask? When companies contact me and ask me to do a review and/or host a giveaway this attracts readers to not only visit my blog but to the company that is looking for new customers. The balance, however that I am looking to maintain is one between creating a solid professional place that companies wish to do business with and a fun personal blog where I can continue to share with you the roller coaster I like to call motherhood!

Ericka (aka Honey). At the time of this photo and posting Honey is almost 6 years old. She is my shadow. Honey comes with me everywhere and does almost everything with me. She is a shoe fanatic and a shopaholic. It is only fitting that she be inducted into the blogosphere as my “Junior” reviewer! Though it takes a little bit of coaxing to get a photo out of her she is enjoying the job. Her favorite items to review are toys, make-up, clothes, and of course shoes!

Nicholas (aka Nick). At the time of this photo and posting Nick is 11 years old. Nicky is my star. He is an awesome athlete and makes friends with anyone no matter what age. If you didn’t notice he has a killer smile! It is only fitting that he be named by “Tween” Reviewer. Nick enjoys reviewing anything sports related, toys, and boys clothes!

Teen Reviewer

Christopher (aka Buddy). At the time of this photo and posting Buddy is 14 years old. Buddy is my scholar and mathematician. He is not only smart but is one of the most loving children. He may be small for his age but he has a big heart. Christopher is my “Teen” reviewer. Christopher likes to review video games, new technology, toys, and construction sets.

Chris (aka Dad). At the time of this photo and posting Dad is well it doesn’t matter how old he is, he is Dad. Dad is my wonderful husband. Unlike many husbands mine cleans well (but not often), and is extremely organized and pays close attention to detail. Chris is my “Dad” reviewer. He likes to review anything sports related especially football (Redskins), baseball (Mets) and golf. He enjoys Mustangs and guitars.
