Dr. David Lintner
In June 2005, Dr. Lintner was named Chief of Sports Medicine at the The Methodist Hospital
in Houston after serving in a similar capacity at Baylor College of Medicine for four years. In 2011 he was named to the US News and World Report list of The Best Doctors in America, and once again listed as a Texas Super Doc by Texas Monthly magazine.. He is the past President of the Major League Baseball Team Physicians Association, and a member of the Baseball Commissioner’s Medical Advisory Committee. He served as the physician for the World Baseball Classic in 2009, and continues in the capacity as the Head Team Physician for the Houston Astros, as well as Team Physician for the Houston Texans. He served as the original Head Team Physician for the Houston Dynamo Major League Soccer Team, and is also the Head Team Physician for Lee College, in addition to caring for many high schools in the Greater Houston area.
Dr. Lintner specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder and is active in teaching orthopedic surgeons the latest techniques. He also specializes in injuries to throwers’ shoulders and elbows, having written more than thirty scientific articles about ACL injuries, thrower’s injuries, and other sports medicine issues.
He is the founder and Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship training program at The Methodist Hospital. A member of multiple national and international sports medicine societies, he has served the last three years as a member of the Upper Extremity Committee of the International Association of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Sport Traumatology (ISAKOS). In the last few years, he has been invited to lecture at international sports medicine meetings in Copenhagen, Oslo, Cancun, Osaka, Japan and Edinburgh, Scotland. In 2005, Dr. Lintner was the Keynote Speaker at the Congress of Futbol Injuries in Madrid, Spain. In 2000, he was selected Traveling Fellow for the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine and went on a three week tour of Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Japan where he was a Visiting Professor at multiple universities as well as the National Sports Councils in Malaysia and Hong Kong. Dr. Lintner has been published extensively in orthopedic literature and is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also board certified in Orthopedic Soprts Medicine (CAQ).
EDUCATION
Dr. Lintner received his B.A. from Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences, Ithaca, NY where he was named Scholar-Athlete of the year (lacrosse) in 1982. He received his M.D. from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Rochester, New York. He completed his Internship in General Surgery at the University of Rochester as well as his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Lintner served as a Fellow in Sports Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston.
