About

Hi, I’m Jessica.

I’m a digital journalist out to explore the future of news. I report, I write, I tweet, I photograph, I blog.

I experiment. I ask questions (a lot).

I love discovering new ways to gather news, present them, and engage with audiences. I’m excited to use technology to help tell stories in more compelling and interactive ways.

As a web editor at WJLA.com, I expanded our use of social media for reporting and engagement. I’ve covered breaking news, helped shape an investigative project from the ground up, and produced in-depth multimedia stories. If you’d like to share ideas, talk journalism, or have a freelance project, get in touch!

My life until now

Originally from Berlin, Germany, I currently live in Washington, D.C. I was a fellow with the award-winning Medill National Security Journalism Initiative, covering climate change as an emerging national security issue.

I graduated from the Medill School of Journalism in December 2010 with a Master’s degree in journalism, focusing on multimedia storytelling and political reporting. Find out more about my work here.

I enjoy the digital life, especially discovering new technological tools. Besides being fluent in German and English, I had the pleasure (more often than not) to study Ancient Greek and Latin in High School, as well as some Spanish and Arabic later.

Travelling is another one of my passions. I’m a book lover fascinated by libraries.
