A Taste of Everything

Here’s a page from my upcoming comic book Everythingness, which will be published by Hic & Hoc Publications this April. It will be a compilation of shorter strips all based on the “everythingness” theme. The sample page above actually has a conclusion that you’ll just have to wait for the finished book to see. But have no fear, it should be awesome!

It was originally my intention to have these sketchbook strips be completely pure. That is, I wanted the finished strips to be done completely by hand and look exactly as they did on paper in the book. Well, the clip art in the last panel here made me throw all those good intentions right out the window. But you know what, I don’t care. I’m the one who makes the rules around here, and I’m gonna do whatever I feel like doing. So there!
Custom Characters: Who Hare
by Neil Jam on January 19, 2012 at 4:36 pmWelcome back to another edition of Custom Characters, the regular feature where I show off all of my custom vinyl figure creations. Today I’d like you to say hello to Who Hare.
Who Hare was made using a Mini Qee figure with acrylic paint and a glossy finish. This Qee figure is a step up in quality from the more generic figures that I’ve completed up until now. Of course, I’m merely speaking in terms of craftmanship and durability of the actual parts that make up the doll. Who Hare himself isn’t any more lovable than any of my other custom characters. They have no reason to be jealous. Honest!

This is probably the most freewheeling strip I’ve done so far in my sketchbook. Yay, I’m actually getting better at it!
Everythingness
by Neil Jam on January 10, 2012 at 1:00 am
I’m happy to announce that this April will see the release of Everythingness, an all new Neil Jam comic book! A theme like “everythingness” is of course somewhat broad, but undeniably awesome as well. I mean, if there’s anything that’s going to capture the imagination, wouldn’t it be the totality of existence?
Everythingness will be released by a new publisher, Hic & Hoc Publications, as part of their first wave of books. The plan is for it to debut at the MoCCA Festival this Spring. It should be a dandy, y’all. In the meantime, please stay tuned, as I’ll be revealing more about the book in the coming weeks.
Jerry’s Journal

When it comes to these sketchbook strips, I feel like I’ve found a nice groove with our pal Jerry. One thing that’s always been advantageous about Jerry is that his diminutive stature makes him easy to squeeze into virtually any situation within any strip, and this particularly holds true for the sketchbook. Therefore, from here on out, I think I’m gonna just go with it and deem these Jerry-centric sketchbook strips “Jerry’s Journal.”
