Bicentennial of the War of 1812
Explore the "Second War of Independence," through resources provided by the Virginia Bicentennial of the American War of 1812 Commission. The site includes a timeline, interactive map, information on famous Virginians who were involved in the conflict as well as events commemorating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. One of the signature events, OpSail 2012 Virginia provides educational programs and materials, including suggested classroom projects.
