What can i do with my very beautiful wedding dress?

I don't feel inclined to have it preserved or save it. I would really like someone else to get use out of it before it goes out of style! I guess what i am looking for are ideas for consignment stores, charities, or maybe an idea that i haven't thought of yet in Seattle, WA. I haven't had it professionally cleaned yet, so information about whether your suggestion requires having it cleaned or not would be helpful too!
My advice would be to donate it to Cinderella's Trunk.prom dress They are a Washington (Bothell, I believe) based charity that lends out formal and semi-formal clothings (along with accessories, hosiery, and make up - the last two of which do not need to be returned) for the cost of dry-cleaning ($10).

The purpose is to allow people who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford to go to prom, formal dances, weddings, or have a nice wedding the ability to do so. It's nice.

Good luck, congratulations on getting married, and I think it is fantastic that you want to do something so wonderful with your dress! If you intend to have children, have a dressmaker use the features of your dress to make a family heirloom christening gown. I make this suggestion because you are willing to give the dress away to charity, so I assume you are not particularly interested getting money in exchange for the dress.

Being a seamstress, school promI have scouted antique shops for vintage wedding dresses that were too damaged to wear as a whole, but had enough salvageable features to make a custom designed christening gown. So, that thought prompted me to give you the same suggestion.

Otherwise, I would do a simple google search for "wedding dress donations" where you will find many resources to donate your dress to charity. There are many organizations who can profit from your donation which can be a tax deduction on your federal income taxes.

Wedding dresses are expensive to clean and even more to preserve. Some of these charitable organizations may have a relationship with a dry cleaner to help them with their cause, so you may want to learn about that before going through the expense of dry cleaning. You have a kind heart and I hope you find a good 'home' for your dress whether you decide to make a christening gown out of it or donate it to another bride. There are plenty of things you can do with your dress. First off, you could try and get some money back. Dresses sure aren't cheap, as I'm sure you're aware. You can try and sell it and get some of its value back (although you certainly won't get what you paid for it, especially if it's new). eBay has a thriving wedding dress community, although they usually expect pretty steep discounts, especially since they're going to have to pay quite a bit for shipping if they're not local. If you want to be a little altruistic and a little capitalistic, Blue Sky Bridal (blueskybridal.com) is basically a bridal gown consignment shop that will pay you for the dress AND donate 10% of the proceeds to the environment.A consignment shop is a great way to go. Give it a try. Of course, your dress must be professionally dry cleaned first.

Another idea is classified ads at your workplace. Where I work, we can post items that we have for sale. I occasionally see wedding gowns listed there.Maybe future daughters could use it? I would recommend saving it. You won't regret keeping it but you might regret giving it away.tu

As far as cleaning it, just take it to a regular dry cleaners. It will be quite expensive though, so be prepared.
I work at a dry cleaners, and people drop their wedding dresses off to be dry cleaned and never come back because its like 100-200 to do it.Hi by listening to your question it sounds like you really don't want to keep it.. Perserving the dress is something they use to do traditionally to save the dress & pass it down to someone like a daughter prom dress uk
Most people spend between $100-$300 to preserve the dress .. Then they store it only to never use it again
Will your daughter be your size .. Yes there is alterations but some dresses can't be taken in too much because then it starts cutting into the design & shape of the gown
Will your daughter even like the style of dress you have.. When I look at my mom's dress that she wore over 30 years ago I can't even think I would ever wear that dress it was beautiful on her & probaly very much in style at that time but now the trend has changed

If you spent alot of money on the dress then that can be a good reason to preserve it but keep it only if you want to save it and understand it may never be worn again

If your trying to make money off of the dress then go to a consignment shop most of them allow you to place dress in the store at the price you want and they take a commision out of money it sells for
Some consignment shops will even buy it from you without having to go through the consignment process .
Ebay is a great market for reselling items but beware most people there are looking for a deal so you may loose alot of value for your dress
Craigslist is a free & you can list a ad in your area with pictures

If you want to give back & bless someone with the dress here is what you can do :
1. Place a ad saying your offering your dress free I am sure someone will be in need of one
2. A good charity is brides against breast cancer I am sure they would love to take your dress & help a bride out

Whether you decide to preserve the dress, sell the dress or give the dress away it's your choice hopefully this info helps you in making a decision
