It is officially ON again for SXSW this year! American Rag is once again presenting FILTER Magazine’s Showdown at Cedar Street in 2012, and we’re thrilled to unveil the lineup today! Join us as we’ll be enjoying three days of amazing music and free BBQ at the Cedar Street Courtyard in Austin this March. For those of you who haven’t made it to the soirée in years past, SXSW badges will be welcomed as well as RSVPs, but please arrive early as admittance will be first come, first serve! Also note the shows are 21+, sorry kids! See y’all in Texas!

Happy Valentine’s Day (Or Not)

Well, RAGGED readers, we have reached that oh-so-divisive day that happens every February 14…yes, sigh, Valentine’s Day. Regardless of relationship status, it seems that everyone you talk to is passionately a Valentine’s Day fan or, well, NOT. Something we can all get behind though, is that not only is it a great day to treat yo’self, but it’s also a wonderful day to take advantage of no-judging record playing. Because, hey, it’s Valentine’s Day, and sometimes that means you just want to vent some anger to old school Alanis Morissette or maybe you want to un-ironically listen to Taylor Swift and think of those butterflies-in-the-stomach feelings.

Our old friend Gabe Saporta from Cobra Starship (and RAGGED Issue #8!) had the same thoughts and just published a new Spotify playlist of his favorite songs that cover the “bizarre emotion” of love. Ranging from classic bands like INXS and Pixies to Snoop Dogg and Justin Timberlake, his playlist covers quite the spectrum, and we think you’ll love it. It’s Time To Have Breakfast! Pre-Order Chiddy Bang’s New Album Now

We first featured Chiddy Bang in the pages of RAGGED Issue #14 last year and have most recently swooned over the Philly duo’s newest music video for “Ray Charles.” As the countdown is heating up towards the February 28th release of their debut full-length, Breakfast, it is safe to say that we can’t get enough of them here at RAGGED HQ.

The excellent news today is that the album is now available for pre-order on iTunes for just $7.99. That sounds like quite a good breakfast special to us, so watch the band’s just-released video announcing the pre-order, fry up some bacon (or veggie bacon!), and place your pre-order now!

2012 Vans Warped Tour Lineup Reaches 50 Bands and Counting…

With seven new acts added today to the 2012 Vans Warped Tour lineup, the roster has now reached 50 bands and counting! As for today’s NEW additions, joining the fun this summer will be Oh No Fiasco, CatchingYourClouds, Captain Capa, Champagne Champagne, G-Eazy, iwrestledabearonce and We Are The In Crowd (pictured above). Looking at the lineup thus far (compiled below in alphabetical order!), we can surely expect a few more headliners to be added in the coming weeks, but we think it’s shaping up quite nicely.
