The Battle of Oakland, Jan. 28, 2012 (#OO Move In Day)

The Battle of Oakland from brandon jourdan on Vimeo.

On January 28th, 2012, Occupy Oakland moved to take a vacant building to use as a social center and a new place to continue organizing. This is the story of what happened that day as told by those who were a part of it. it features rare footage and interviews with Boots Riley, David Graeber, Maria Lewis, and several other witnesses to key events. Dozens of Occupy San Francisco protesters were arrested throughout the days events, most of them facing prolonged detention & horrific conditions in the county jail.

Website Software Update

Greetings from the website team! Software, like any system, requires regular maintenance. We have been having increasing problems with our install of WordPress (the software that manages all our content and users) which means: upgrade time! Two weeks ago we tried an update and something went horribly awry. Whoops! We do lots of backing up of the website’s data, though, so we rolled it back and tried to clean up the dust from the corners.

We just did the update again. It failed. Stay tuned. Please let us know at occupysfweb(at)gmail(dot)com if you find something weird or broken on the site! We are doing our best and can do even better with your help with Quality Assurance.
