FOOOOOOOL’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD

Here’s the latest A-Trak remix as premiered on the February edition of the Fool’s Gold radio show.

There were a lot of good ones in this set, including Claptone’s understated and stringy “Cream” single, the most hyped track of 2012 so far: “Booty Clap,” and Digitalism’s relaxed rendition of WhoMadeWho’s “Inside World.”

Grab the February mix here and check A-Trak’s big room rendition of Martin Solveig‘s “The Night Out” bellow:

Jessie Ware – Running (Disclosure Remix)
18. Saturday.2012

Young house music duo Disclosure just released another stellar remix, adding to their already phenomenal catalog and taking the chique-clothing-shoppe music genre to a whole ‘nother level.

In the “Running” remix, Jessie Ware‘s lush vocals dance around the duo’s bouncy instrumentation creating a really nice blend of old and nu-school sounds.

If you like listening to your music on wax, check the pre order for this release on 12″ here.

Keep up with Disclosure on soundcloud and facebook.

Rusko – Somebody to Love (Skream Remix)
17. Friday.2012

spacer

There were a few tracks at Rusko‘s live set that put a huge grin on my face. This is one of them.

That cumbia beat isn’t all that bad when you haven’t heard it in a while and it’s cranked up to 140bpm.

I’m always floored by how many styles Skream can successfully work with.

This one’s a heavy weekend anthem. You can almost smell the smoke and see the lazers flying around as the bassline rips through your headphones.

This remix was premiered today over at Spin.com.

Rusko – Somebody to Love is out now at beatport and itunes.

Usher & Diplo – Climax
16. Thursday.2012

spacer

You heard this one yet?

It’s some of the best work from each of the involved artists.

Usher‘s voice soars over Diplo‘s elegant use of rising and falling instrumentation.

This one’s pretty much guaranteed to be all over this summer’s radio charts, which means more Diplo exposure and consequently more weirdness in mainstream music.

Can’t wait.

Friends – Friend Crush (Jake Bullit Mix)
16. Thursday.2012

spacer

Friends: 3 dudes. 2 girls. Brooklyn.
Jake Bullit: 4 dudes. No girls. Birmingham.

They’ve been paired up through their label, Lucky Number Music and the result is blog-haus dance floor ecstasy.

Jake Bullit’s smooth and punchy multi-layered synth-strumental is the perfect backdrop to Samantha Urbani’s sexy vocals on “Friend Crush:”

Childish Gambino – Heartbeat (Justin Faust Remix)
13. Monday.2012

Welcome to the most fun you’ll have all day.

Whether you’re dancing in your desk chair at work or doing some cleaning at the apartment, this is exactly what should be playing in your headphones right now.

Justin Faust (Adidas model by day, disco producer by night) just slayed this remix for Childish Gambino‘s current single, “Heartbeat.”

It’s not often a track can pull off the rap disco fusion but here’s an exception.

Listen and download bellow and if you like what you hear, say hi to Faust on facebook and soundcloud.

Cherub – MoM & DaD Album Release @ Mercy Lounge
11. Saturday.2012

spacer

Jordan Kelley and Jason Huber aka Nashville groove experts Cherub are playing a show tonight at Mercy Lounge surrounding the release of their new album, MoM & DaD.

The record features roughly one hour of new material that sounds like something that might’ve been playing on the set of an early 80s porno shoot, complete with bouncing basslines, Kelley’s sharp falsetto leads, sunny synthwork and laid-back percussion.

My current favorites are “Doses and Mimosas,” “Hold Me (ft. Dominic Lalli),” “Monogomy” and “All (ft. Natalie Prass)” but favorites tend to change after adding a group’s live dynamic; part of the reason why I think these guys are blowing up so quickly.

Download “Doses and Mimosas” bellow and head over to tonights event page for more info on the show and CD release.

You can hear more of their work over at Elm and Oak Records.
