City seeks loving parents for foster children

City to Hold Foster Parent Orientation on February 21

Richmond, VA – The City’s Department of Social Services will host a Foster Parent Orientation on Tuesday, February 21, at 6 p.m. in the department’s Marshall Street Plaza offices, 900 East Marshall Street. The orientation will detail what it takes to become a foster parent. Light refreshments will be served. Those interested in attending should call (804) 646-KIDS.

The City’s Department of Social Services is looking for foster parents to provide loving and nurturing homes. There are children in the Richmond community that need a foster parents’ help now. Foster parents are needed to offer recreational and enrichment activities that promote healthy development and to support the everyday ups and downs that all children experience.

HJWA Meeting This Tuesday

Friends and Neighbors,

The Historic Jackson Ward Association will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held at Club 533, corner of 3rd and Jackson Streets.  Parking is available in the fenced lot behind the building.  Please do not park on the paved lot beside the building as it is reserved for club members only.

We also hope to have our usual police department update and, perhaps, a City Council update.

Please come out and join us and if you have not paid your dues, please come prepared to pay.  It’s only $10.00 per individual and $20.00 per business or organization.  if you would like to vote on issues, you must be a paid member.

I hope to see you Tuesday.

Closing reception at UNOS.  Featured artwork by John Bryan.

If you don’t know, the United Network for Organ Sharing  (UNOS) is the most people friendly place in the Biotech Park, having a real park, open to the public, a memorial and an art gallery, if only the rest of Biotech was the same, so here’s an excuse for checking it out.
