Update on James’ health

On January 21st James contracted Botulism. He has been in the hospital since January 30th and in ICU since February 2nd, but things are starting to change in a good way! James has not had the use of his vocal chords for over 2 weeks now, but is expressing his appreciation with a bold “thumbs up”.

Today has been a better day!
Even though no one could complain concerning the advancements that were taking place with James, the barrage of additional complications were frustrating, aggrevating and discouraging.
The great news is that it appears that James’ diaphragm has woke up and the paralysis is lifting. He began to cough (difficult to watch when you have a tube down your throat) but fabulous that his reflexes are working and that he just had the ability to cough.
The pneumonia in his right lobe increased and so the thought of breathing exercises were put on hold. Between just being exhausted, ready for normalcy, coughing and just not feeling well, yesterday was James’ first day of discouragement.
Today has been a rainy day in LA, but the sun has been shining in ICU! He weened off of the breathing machine for 4 hours with very strong numbers from his blood draws. Everyone is so encouraged. The hope is that they will try to extubate him tomorrow.
He still has many challenges. Tomorrow will be the 21st day since he has had food. His body is suffering the effects of massive antibiotics. Also, it is not clear of the amount of paralysis that is trying to linger in his throat and tongue.
But God!
Again, thanks for your dedication to pray, for taking time to write him a message and for your thoughtfulness.

Over a year ago James worked on a web series called Shadowlands. Unfortunately, despite an overall interesting plot it has never been released:
Zach finds out he’s adopted when he’s eighteen. Now, four years later, his biological father contacts him on Facebook and wants to meet. Packing up his friends, Zach takes off to Death Valley to confront his dad. No one’s prepared for what he finds…
Here’s some on-set photography taken back in 2010.

Fact or fiction? Upcoming biopic Joshua Tree, 1951 portrays James Dean’s alleged gay affairs
Posted by Peter in Joshua Tree, 1951, Movies and TV • Comments (0)

There has always been speculation as to what was the true sexuality of Hollywood legend James Dean. But now a film about the star will take a very specific stance on his personal life. Upcoming biopic Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean, includes scenes that depict the actor having sexual encounters with a series of men.
One scene shows the character of Dean making love to his male roommate in a corridor. He is also seen in the movie indulging in a tryst with another male character, this time on top of a mountain. Dean is played by relatively unknown actor James Preston, who is most famous for his role as werewolf Lukas Ford in supernatural TV drama The Gates.
Also starring in the movie is Robert Gant of Queer as Folk fame, The L Word star Erin Daniels and Walk The Line actress Clare Grant. The film, which is due to be released in the summer, claims that it ‘redefines’ James Dean ‘for a new generation’, according to its website. It is not the first tribute to suggest Dean was gay.

Speculation over the true nature of James Dean’s sexuality has, of course, been rampant among movie critics and fans for decades. But now, a new biopic aims to cast a different light on the private life of the iconic “Rebel Without a Cause” star.
Directed by Matthew Mishory (hailed by French magazine Les Inrocks as “a new hope of American indie cinema,” according to IMDB), the upcoming “Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portait of James Dean” shows the actor (played by James Preston) making love to a male roommate (Dan Glenn) in a corridor, and in an intimate mountaintop embrace with yet another male character.
The film’s website touts “Joshua Tree” as “redefining James Dean for a new generation.” Eagle-eyed viewers will also spot “Queer as Folk” star Robert Gant, credited by IMDB as “the Famous Director,” in the new clip.
Of course, the film is hardly the first such implication, with new reports of Dean’s alleged trysts with fellow stars Rock Hudson, Clifton Webb, Bill Bast, and Jack Simmons emerging every few years or so.

Showtime’s 6th Annual Holiday Soiree
Posted by Peter in Photos • Comments (1)

On December 1st James attended Showtime’s 6th Annual Holiday Soiree at The Quincy Estate in Los Angeles.
You can notice that he got a new tattoo which reads FCAS. What does it mean? I’m guessing Franklin College of Arts and Sciences which is located in Athens, Georgia where James’ girlfriend, Laura Slade Wiggins, comes from. This is his 5th tattoo.
