Fetch Media and Quooker: A Mobile Case Study

Towards the end of 2011 Fetch Media was approached by Quooker, the leading manufacturer of boiling water taps. They had recently started a UK television advertising campaign which had worked brilliantly in terms of driving brand recognition and visits to their website. An increasing number of visitors were also accessing the Quooker website from mobile devices. However, one issue had become very apparent. Quooker’s website was predominantly built in Flash, and analysis quickly showed that 86% of the website visits were from smartphones that did not support Flash at all. This led to a very unsatisfactory user experience and ultimately a negative image of the Quooker brand.

Quooker needed a solution to this problem and Fetch Media was happy to provide it in the form of a fully optimised and multilingual mobile site.

The solution was to build a mobile site that would explain the features of the Quooker tap by including the following: clear images as to how it works, a HTML 5 video demonstrating how the tap should be used safely and illustrations showing the various different products available in the complete Quooker range. Perhaps most importantly of all, the mobile site needed to provide a way of generating leads using clear call to action features.

Fetch’s in-house creative division worked very closely with Quooker’s marketing department to ensure all brand guidelines were adhered to and the mobile site reflected the same level of design and functionality as the Quooker products themselves.

The results were superb and provided further evidence of the need for companies to ensure that every potential customer who interacts with their brand does so satisfactorily. In the first three months of the launch, Quooker’s mobile site received over 10,000 visits with 6% of those visits culminating in a strong lead in the form of a brochure request. An incredible 37% of all Quooker inquiries now come from the mobile site.
