Propel Executive's Digital Breakfast

Propel Executive held its first digital executive breakfast event this morning at the W Hotel in Leicester Square.

Chaired by Guy Phillipson, Chief Executive of the IAB, the event was focussed on digital predictions for 2012 from some of digital London’s brightest talent.

Following an insightful and energetic introduction from Guy, the audience of 50 of the top digital minds in London heard from digital experts from the worlds of video, social media, mobile marketing & Real Time Bidding (RTB).

First up was Nick Roveta, Product Director at video seeding agency go viral. Nick predicted that alongside increased use of video advertising – especially in social – pre-roll will continue to dominate adspend. However, he also predicted that this will change in 2013 when ad selectors could take over as consumers continue to demand increased control over their online media consumption.

Next up was Tom Ollerton Marketing Director at wearesocial and member of the IAB Social Media Council. Tom started by saying that 2012 would go down as the year of data in social media as brands and agencies looked to better qualify their returns from the channel. He also discussed the need for brands to remember their position in the social landscape -  to enhance, facilitate and compliment the conversations users are having rather than interrupting them.

Hot on Tom’s heels was Carl Umimski , founder of mobile marketing agency Somo. Following the explosion of mobile in the past couple of years, Carl confidently predicted that mobile will continue to grow in 5 key areas: retail adoption, tablet use, augmentation of print media, synchronous use of TV and further increase in mobile adspend.

Rounding off proceedings was Louisa Wong, General Manager at Amnet, who gave an incredibly insightful presentation on the position and future of RTB in digital. Following her talk there were plenty of questions from the floor – it looks as if there is an awful lot of interest in what RTB will mean for all sections of the ad serving space.

This event kicks off a busy year for Propel, and we’re really looking forward to hosting plenty more interesting and engaging that bring together the best minds in digital London.

Thanks to all who attended and especially our speakers.
