Bragan Youth Foundation to honor Brock, Robinson
Hall of Famers Lou Brock and Brooks Robinson will be the two honorees for the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award Gala on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Brock, one of the most gifted base runners in baseball history, accumulated 938 stolen bases during his 19-year big league career. A six-time All-Star, Brock amassed more than 3,000 hits and helped lead the Cardinals to three National League pennants and two World Series titles.

CATS WIN SECOND STRAIGHT TITLE
The Cats won the American Association Championship on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over St. Paul in Game 5 of the series on Sunday, Sept. 10.

On a cold and rainy day in Minnesota, the Cats completed a comeback from the brink of elimination to win their second consecutive championship trophy.

The Cats fell behind in the game 1-0 after Derrick White's fourth inning solo homer. But they rallied, getting a home  run from Shawn Williams in the fifth to tie it up and an RBI double by Marc Mirrizi in the sixth to take the lead.

Mirizzi, who had nine hits in the series including the game winner on Sunday, was named the series MVP.

Joel Kirsten notched his second win of the series as he went 7 1/3 innings and allowed a run on five hits in Game 5. Charlie Ruud suffered the loss as he allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings for the Saints.

Reliever Jeff Montani worked the final 1 2/3 innings and struck out Brian Frost to end the game, as he notched his first save for Fort Worth.

For the second time this post-season, the Cats rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win the series. They also did so in the opening-round series against Shreveport.
