B e f o r e s t sono un’altra band della east coast nostrana, di Pesarooklyn per l’esattezza. echochitarre al delay, basso atmosphere, voce calda e cupa allo stesso tempo, sussurrata, presente / assente quanto basta, ritmiche serrate e minimali, tutti e tre in piedi. Piu’ giovani dei giovanissimi, esordiranno a marzo con il primo vero disco *prossima uscita wwnbb* che si preannuncia una bomba.
Ci siamo innamorati di loro dopo il primo ascolto. A colpire dritto al cuore e’ il loro approccio diretto e senza fronzoli, l’educazione, l’urgenza. la consapevolezza che non bastano le prime impressioni o un demo azzeccato e neppure l’hype del momento. le valvole si stanno scaldando, potenziometri versi, benvenuti ragazzi!

“Il trio marchigiano rappresenta l’ennesima conferma che alcune delle cose più interessanti in Italia negli ultimi tempi stanno arrivando dalla nostra East Coast. Hanno pubblicato da poco il loro EP d’esordio dal titolo Love, Tears & Spiritual Blessing, che si apre con una vibrazione alla Beach Boys, limpida e tranquilla, come arrivare in spiaggia la mattina presto, guardare intorno il paesaggio, respirare a fondo e avere voglia che sia una grande giornata. Poi parte We Need The Sun: gli Housemartins che scivolano sul surf, mentre i Vampire Weekend alzano un brindisi al bar della spiaggia. C’è un’aria che soffia dal mare, sono le armonie vocali dei Karibean. C’è una brezza rock’n'roll che scompiglia le sei corde e i riflessi sull’acqua, si riempie di echi come nella perfetta Gregorian Spring, un invito Sixties a cui non si resiste. This Italian 5 piece has been around since 2005 and has released several albums and mini albums throughout the years. Le Man Avec Les Lunettes started out life as a recording project, using multi-tracking to build ‘ultra-melodic’ pop songs. The band has toured around Italy and Europe from the very beginning. The band’s self-produced 2008 album “Plaskaplaskabombelibom”, is a collection of melodic, warm songs. Another round of tour dates kept the “lunettes” busy until mid-2010, at which point they decided to take some months to write new material.
“Sparkles” will arrive in May 2011, recorded in the band’s studio ( a flat called “us random calculator”) among others songs that will be included in the next album. “Sparkles’” music is built on few instruments and simple arrangements, heavily influenced by the joy of spare times and the love for the “12th fret”. The songs recorded during the end of 2010 and beginning of 2011 are in the same “family”, a “family” with its root in such tracks as “Crawling down the stairs” (recorded for Amnesty International & Buffetlibre): easy texture, shimmering pop melody and “modern” sound with cheap vintage equipment.

Joel Nicholson first gave us a glimpse of his deepest thoughts three years ago with his debut as Butcher The Bar ‘Sleep At Your Own Speed’, an album that dealt with the fleet-footed uncertainties of growing up – recorded in the intimate light of his bedroom. Since then Joel has moved into a whole house in Manchester, the rooms of which must be sunny and flooded with light, for the latest songs, with all their delicate melodies, conjure up images of sparkling particles of dust dancing in the sunlight. Taken as a whole, the songs on ‘For Each A Future Tethered’ make an album, and its an album with which Joel not only continues telling his own personal story, but which adds a new chapter to the history of great song writing in the tradition of musicians like Nick Drake, Paul Simon and Elliott Smith.
Nicholson has also shown new sides to his creativity in his arrangements. While the songs on the debut album were largely based on the traditional folk instrumentation of guitar, banjo and vocals, on ‘For Each A Future Tethered’ there’s a wider range of musical accompaniment, with the inclusion of trumpets, clarinets, harmoniums and pianos to name a few, resulting in a richer, fuller sound. The music is somewhat reminiscent of label mates Seabear, on ‘Bobby’ for example, but also of indie-pop greats such as The Lucksmiths. Some songs – like the confident lullaby ‘Cradle Song’ and ‘Blood For The Breeze’ – could be folk standards, while others set new standards for folk music. Right from the word go, the opening number ‘Sign Your Name’ shows an astonishing measure of depth and tremendous fluidity, where Joel’s voice becomes entwined in the sound of the instruments. Butcher The Bar play folk-pop with a big heart, and anyone who ever wanted to throw their arms around the whole world should feel loved back when listening to this album.

Eux Autres play pop music. The band originally consisted of brother and sister Heather and Nicholas Larimer. Heather played drums, Nicholas played guitar, and they both sang. Practices frequently devolved into shoving matches. In an effort to quell these outbursts (and expand their sound), Eux Autres added drummer Yoshi Nakamoto (The Aislers Set, Still Flyin’) in 2008, and bassist Nathan Berlinguette in 2010.

Allo Darlin’ are many things. They can turn a room in a famous punk venue into a joyous, jumping, sweaty, pop-mosh pit. Or bring a room of 500 to hushed silence with the few strums of a ukulele and a love song about cooking. Allo Darlin’ are a breath of fresh air breezing through stale music everywhere. Elizabeth Morris’ thoughtful yet playful creations are achingly personal, incredibly poignant and familiar all at once. Incorporating tunes that you think you must have heard before, she twists them into something new and highly intoxicating.

Diverting duo è la band/progetto di Sara Cappai e Gianmarco Cireddu. Dopo un demo autoprodotto e svariati concerti i due registrano e pubblicano nel 2009 il loro primo album lover/lover uscito per l’isolana ZAHRrecords.
L’album d’esordio, accolto molto bene dalla stampa italiana, da voce al loro dream-pop lo-fi e minimale mettendo le basi per un tour che nel corso del 2009 li ha portati a suonare in buona parte d’Italia ed Europa.
