Children's Religious Exploration

Welcome to the Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists (BFUU) – a spiritual home for the entire family. Our Religious Exploration (RE) program nurtures spiritually alive and socially aware young people, and teaches the values of Unitarian Universalism. At BFUU children can be themselves while also learning to acknowledge, accept, and affirm differences in others.

Each Sunday morning BFUU provides a safe, welcoming, and fun space for young people to explore life’s questions and their beliefs, and to engage in a “free and responsible search for truth and meaning.” What happens in the classroom is only part of our holistic approach to religious exploration. Worship, service and social action, and community building are all part of religious exploration and the development of a religious identity.

We believe that people of all ages are on a journey toward becoming whole and fulfilling our potential. This journey is grounded in our Unitarian Universalist principles, and lived out in our relationships with one another. Join us on the journey!

UU Principles for Children

1. We believe that each and every person is important.

2. We believe that all people should be treated fairly and kindly.

3. We believe that we should accept one another and keep on learning together.

4. We believe that each person must be free to search for what is true and right in life.

5. We believe that all persons should have a vote about the things that concern them.

6. We believe in working for a peaceful, fair, and free world.

7. We believe in caring for our planet Earth, the home we share with all living things.
