Eurozone Finance Chiefs Approve Greek Second Bailout: Reports
39 minutes ago
Eurozone Finance Ministers have approved a second bailout package for Greece, reports said citing statements by EU officials. The bailout program involved financing worth EUR 130 billion. Meanwhile, Reuters said that the meeting agreed on a debt reduction target of 121 percent of GDP for the country by 2020. The new bailout money would leave Athens with sufficient funds to repay a EUR14.5 billion bond due on March 20.
Indian Shares Seen Subdued
Indian shares are seen opening flat to slightly lower on Tuesday, tracking mixed Asian cues as Eurozone finance ministers hold late-night talks to approve a long-elusive rescue package for Greece that would save the cash-strapped nation from a bankruptcy next month. The U.S. markets were closed on Monday in observance of President's Day. Closer home, the government will release annual inflation based on retail prices in rural, urban and all India basis starting today, a move that will help the Reserve Bank of India to monitor inflation and set monetary policy effectively. The new CPI, which will eventually replace the Wholesale Price Index for policy action, is a better indicator of inflation, as it includes services, which make up 55 percent of India's economic output. Meanwhile, crude futures are at nine-month highs after Iran said it halted crude exports to France and Britain and as China eased monetary policy over the weekend.
Japan's Azumi: No G20 Agreement Yet On Boosting IMF Resources

The Group of 20 nations have not yet arrived at an agreement over additional funding for the International Monetary Fund to support Europe amid its debt crisis, Japanese Finance Minister Jun Azumi reportedly said Tuesday. According to reports, the minister said Japan and China believe there is still room for Europe to make efforts to deal with the crisis. Azumi said the coming G-20 meeting during the weekend in Mexico City will be an opportunity to "examine progress in the European situation." "We are not yet at a stage where we are moving in the same situation and are about to decide specific amounts," Azumi was quoted as saying.
