Valentine’​s Lay Offs Ahead

What happens to “love” the day after the roses have wilted, the champagne bottle’s empty and the candy is all gone? At best, love is seasonal work. What’s love supposed to do the rest of the year? The answer Seattle band Stag provides in their video “Don’t Lead With Your Heart”: Drink with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. If anyone is going to understand love’s plight it’s a couple of other seasonal workers.

Madonna just dropped her new single and video “Give Me All Your Luvin’ (Feat. M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj)” in advance of her appearance during halftime at the Super Bowl this Sunday. It may take a little time to try and decode what this whole video means… Stay tuned.

R.I.P. Don Cornelius

Very sad news today. Soul Train creator Don Cornelius has passed away from what is being reported as a self inflicted gun shot wound. It’s hard to imagine music today without his influnence. He will be missed.

Don’t Mess With The Tiger

It seems that unless you are Sylvester Stalone, you should steer clear of using Surivor’s “Eye Of The Tiger”.

A songwriter from the band just filed a lawsuit to prevent Newt Gingrich from using their song for his entrance theme at campaign rallies.

He may not be able to use the song anymore but at least he doesn’t have to go 12 rounds with Apollo Creed.

Mondays!

There have been so many songs written about the weekend but a precious few about Monday. This is probably due to the fact that most musicians are just too tired from the weekend and aren’t really hitting on all cylinders until Tuesday morning.

Bob Geldoff and the Boomtown Rats penned probably the most well known ode to the first day of the week. “I Don’t like Mondays” is a classic, and it comes to mind every week when we roll out of bed on our way to work.
