RESOLVED
Anyone ever try to use this in the Camera Pod ? Could be handy for a group setting.
My System Information:
Connect Pro Meeting / Windows

ACCEPTED SOLUTION
Yes, it works just fine. You have to tinker a bit in the OS Video Control Panel but other than that it is fine. You cannot use the conference phone portion of it though for incoming audio. We tried to spoof a telephone line coming into the unit using some capacitors to simulate an open phone line but learned that the CX-5000 does not have any integrated noise cancellation and it sets up a loop. Would suggest speakers for audio and let CX-5000 handle video/audio input.

Can you give any details on the configuration changes to make this camera compatible with Adobe Connect? We have several of these cameras and desire to have this as an available solution.

Could you please give more details on how to "tinker a bit in the OS Video Control Panel". We just purchased one and can't get it working.

Also trying to make this stuff work - anyone who knows, please share!

Try it without the add-in, and see if the video works properly then.
add this string to the end of the meeting room.
ie domain.connect.com/meetingroom?launcher=false

We just tried this and it didn't work.

We were finally able to do this on a Windows 7 and a Vista computer. It would not work with Windows XP (which most of our computers still are). It would only work in the "active switching mode". I hope this helps.

Hi everyone
To those of you who have the camera working - could explain how you got the camera to work with Connect? I haven't had any luck at all yet other than what looks like a single image rather than the panorama.
Many thanks,
Brad

The Solution was to use Windows 7 or Vista.. It worked without any advanced configuration needed.. XP however was a complete NO GO...

Under "Accepted Solution" it should be noted that the Polycom CX5000 will only work properly in the Active Speaker Video as the camera source. I have also found that the Connect Add-in application needs to be running.
We have been reasonably impressed with its tracking capabilities. It is fairly expensive to be using it for only the camera and microphone services, but it will be very beneficial in classes that emphasize group interactions.
Has anyone started using the CX5000 with Connect Pro 8?

Where is this setting: "Active speaker Video"
Thanks

Right-click on the Connect classroom window to bring up the Settings window. Click on the webcam icon and, if the Polycom CX5000 is connected to the computer, it should be one of the two Polycom cameras available. It is also necessary to select High-Quality Images using the Camera and Voice Pod Options.
I have found that using the CX5000 with Connect 8 in the Panorama mode provides a very rapidly spinning view of the 360 degree area around the camera. Completely unusable, of course, but interesting.

I am not sure what you mean- how to use it. Do you own one and are having problems getting it working with AC? The configuations are listed above in this forum thread. If you need more details email me.

I tried mrock66's advice to add "?launcher=false" to the URL of my meeting room and it worked out fine! I finally managed to get a view of the "active speaker" camera. Thanks! No additional modifications to the control panel necessary here.
However, now I can't share my desktop anymore. As soon as I turn on the addin, there is no camera :( The good news: I can share some documents.
Using: Win7 Pro 64bit, Flash player version 11.1.102.55; Firefox 8.0.1;

You have to have your "add-in" installed to share. You should see a blue arrow in the top right to download. The CX-5000 works great for us with the add-in installed. We use several of these and they are used alot. We get an occational freeze up- but this doesn't happen too often.

I have the CX5000 with the add-ins, Win7 environment. I've got it working under the "speaker" mode (where it zero's in on whomever is talking) but on panorama mode it spins around the room. Any ideas on how to make it work on panorama mode?

It doesn't work in panorama mode. But, I am not sure why you would want to. The camera follows who is speaking.

We just tried this and it didn't work.

As mentioned in earlier post, right click> settings> camera> pick the active speaker in the drop down. You also need the highest quality setting on the camera.
