Recipe — Hot Chocolate Sticks

 Recipes  No Responses »
Feb 022012

Ingredients:

-9oz Milk Chocolate
-7oz Semi-Sweet Chocolate
-1/2 Cup Loosely Packed Cocoa Powder
-1 Cup Loosely Packed Brown Sugar
-1/8 Teaspoon Salt
-Mini Marshmallows

Supplies:

-Wooden Sticks (at least 5 Inches long)
-Piping Bag or Plastic Baggie with 1/2 of the Corner Cut Off
-Small Deep Cavity Candy Molds or Ice Cube Trays (the small cubed ones would work best for this)
-Medium Sized Bowl
-Glass Bowl
-Spatula

Instructions:

1. In the medium sized bowl mix together the 1/2 cup loosely packed cocoa powder, the 1 cup loosely packed brown sugar, and the 1/8 teaspoon of salt.

2. Chop the chocolate into small pieces and mix together in the glass bowl.

3. Place the glass bowl in the microwave and heat on medium for 30 seconds, then stir with the spatula. Repeat the process until the chocolate is 2/3 the way fully melted (with still some visible chocolate chunks) and then continue to stir it until the chocolate is fully melted.

4. Pour the melted chocolate into the bowl contained the dry ingredients and stir until fully mixed together.

5. Spoon the mixture into a piping bag or a plastic baggie with a 1/2 inch section of the corner cut off.

6. Pipe the chocolate into the molds or ice cube tray. When fully piped tap the tray or molds onto the counter to get rid of any air bubbles in the chocolate.

7. Insert a wooden stick into each mold and place four mini marshmallows in a square around the stick.

8. Allow to set until fully hardened and dry. You may place them in the refrigerator to quicken the process.

9. Once they are fully set carefully remove the chocolate from the molds. If needed tap the try or molds onto the counter but don’t slam too hard or you’ll break the chocolate up.

To Use:

-Heat up 1 cup of milk and dunk the stuck into the glass and stir until it is fully dissolved into the milk. Should take about 5 minutes to completely dissolve.

-Enjoy!

Notes:

-Use regular chocolate for this not chocolate chips as chocolate chips are designed to resist melting and won’t be as easy to use.

-These make great gifts for the holidays or any time of the year for a chocolate lover!

RPG style game for The Confectionaries

 Uncategorized  No Responses »
Jan 312012

Yes! We have a RPG style game currently in the works for The Confectionaries!

It will have a simple point and click interface. We are just in the early game framework design phase. Currently I have been working on fine tuning “path finding” logic. This allows you to click on the screen and your character finds a path through obstacles to that location. The game will also have an inventory system.

Jan 262012

Ingredients:

-Granulated Sugar
-1 Cup Water

Supplies:

-Heavy Cord
-Small Sauce Pan
-Wooden Spoon
-Clean Glass Mason Jar
-1 Pencil

Instructions:

1. Pour the 1 cup of water into the small sauce pan and add 2 cups of sugar into the water.

2. With the assistance of a parent or guardian heat the mixture on the stove over medium heat. Stir the mixture until the sugar fully melts into the water.

3. Continue to add sugar and stir it until the sugar no longer melts in the water. Stop when you see that sugar is collecting on the bottom of the pan.

4. Remove the pot from the stove and allow it to cool until it is just warm to the touch.

5. When cooled pour the liquid into the mason jar.

6. Tie one end of the heavy cord onto the middle of the pencil. Rest the pencil over the top of the jar so that the end of the heavy cord is dangling into the water mixture.

7. Set the jar in a safe location and allow it to sit for 24 hours. Check progress after a couple of hours to make sure that crystals are forming on the cord.

8. The next day. Remove the cord with the crystals on it and carefully set it to the side. With the assistance of a parent or guardian pour the liquid back into the sauce pan and reheat it to boiling and then allow it to cool back to a warm temperature and pour it back into the jar and replace the pencil and cord.

9. Allow to sit for another 24 hours and repeat the warming and cooling process. Each day the candy is allowed to sit the larger it will continue to grow.

10. Once the candy reaches the size you want it to be. Remove the cord from the pencil and snip off the excess bits.

11. Eat and enjoy!
