Measuring & Fitting

This page gives hints and tips for measuring your windows. Measuring windows is a relatively pain free task, however please read the information below to ensure your measurements are precise (made to measure blinds rely on exact measurements).

Before measuring and ordering your blinds, you need to decide whether your blinds will fit into the window recess (Recess fit), or will be mounted outside of the recess to cover the entire window frame (Exact Fit) - See Below
Recess Fit Exact Fit

1. Measure the width in 3 different positions inside the window recess from wall to wall. Measure near the top, the middle and the bottom of the window recess. From your 3 measurements, it is important to note the smallest measurement.

2. Measure the Drop (height) in 3 different positions inside the recess from the top of the recess to the window sill. Once again the most important measurement to note is the smallest one.

3. Enter these measurements into the website as Recess measurements this will mean we know to make an allowance when making your blind, all blinds have around a 1cm allowance on the width and 0.5cm to 1cm on the drop depending on which type of blind you choose.

On Roller Blinds and Venetian Blinds we do not make an allowance on the drop.

4. When measuring for Vertical Blinds Recess size, do not make an allowance in the drop measure from the top of where you are fixing the blind to the bottom of your window sill as we make the allowance at the factory.

1. Measure the width of your window then add at least 12cm to allow for overlap.

2. Measure the drop (height) of your window and add at least 12cm to allow for overlap.

3. On Roller Blinds the exact width entered will be from bracket to bracket in between the brackets you would have your controls, this means your fabric will be 2cm to 3cm less.

4. Remember to enter your sizes as Exact size when ordering for outside recess this will mean the blind will be made to your precise measurements.

On Vertical Blinds there will be a slight reduction made on the drop so be sure to allow for your overlap.

Please Note: Measuring windows is an inexact science. Window sizes vary from window to window, widths and heights will often vary from the top to the bottom of a window (and also from left to right) so please take measurements in at least three places. Always use the smallest measurements when buying blinds to ensure your blind will fit within the recess.
