Congrats Lee!
Lee Pace has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, playing opportunistic New York City mayor Fernando Wood, a prominent early supporter of the Confederate cause. The mayor traded frequent correspondence with President Lincoln, played by Daniel Day-Lewis. Pace just finished a run in the Tony-winning revival of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart. He also wrapped the final Twilight Saga installment Breaking Dawn, and this fall shoots the role of Elven King Thranduil in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit.

Congrats to the cast and crew!
Larry Kramer’s “The Normal Heart,” which was performed at the Public Theatre in 1985, won the Tony Award for revival of a play. The ensemble drama follows a group of New Yorkers confronting the AIDS crisis in the early ’80s.
The Broadway production, at the John Golden Theatre, is co-directed by Joel Grey and George C. Wolfe and stars Joe Mantello, Lee Pace, Patrick Breen, Luke Macfarlane, Jim Parsons, Ellen Barkin and John Benjamin Hickey.
The play, which has won three Tonys so far this evening, beat out revival productions of “Arcadia,” “The Importance of Being Earnest” and “The Merchant of Venice.”
Producer Daryl Roth accepted the award but it was Kramer, an outspoken gay activist for many years, who received the biggest welcome from the audience. The writer exhorted the gay community to “carry on the fight,” adding that “our day will come.”

Here’s some news on the blu-ray release date for Ceremony.
On June 21, 2011, Magnolia Home Entertainment brings the romantic comedy Ceremony to Blu-ray. Starring Michael Angarano (Almost Famous) and Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction, Mad Dog and Glory), Ceremony tells the story of a young man obsessed with derailing his older ex-lover’s upcoming nuptials. From Magnolia’s official synopsis:
Aspiring children’s book author Sam Davis (Angarano) convinces his former best friend Marshal (Reece Thompson) to spend the weekend with him to rekindle their friendship at an elegant beachside estate owned by a famous documentary filmmaker Whit Coutell (Lee Pace). But it soon becomes clear that Sam has ulterior motives when Marshal learns that Whit’s fiancée, Zoe (Thurman) is Sam’s ex. His plan is to thwart their impending nuptials but it begins to unravel as he is forced to realize how complicated love and friendship can be.
The film, director Max Winkler’s first, arrives on Blu-ray with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film.

Videoeta has listed Lee as one of their ten surefire a-listers by 2015. They speak the truth!
Lee is no ordinary face in the crowd for those of us who watched him every week as the Pie Maker in Pushing Daisies. But for most of the world, he is a complete unknown for the time being. That will all change later this year when he shows up in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Not only will he pop back up in Part 2 next year, but he also scored a coveted role in another two-part blockbuster The Hobbit. On the strength of those four movies alone, Lee Pace will be a household name by 2015.
