There is ample occasion at Department of History events for postgraduate students to share in others' research and to discuss academic, social or career-related issues with other postgraduates, members of staff, and visiting speakers.
In addition, postgraduate students are currently forging links with postgraduates at the University of Kent with the possibility of joint events in the future, run by and for postgraduates.

The
Mile End Group
The Mile End Group (MEG) was born in December 2003 by
postgraduates of Queen Mary College. It takes the form
of a seminar series, blending both postgraduate students’
current research findings and outside luminaries’
personal reflections. The seminars are broadly contemporary
British history issues, with particular emphasis on politics
and Whitehall past and present.
The seminars are irregular and take the form of a 30 minute
talk by the main speaker (no reading of papers allowed),
followed by 10 minutes from an expert respondent all completed
by 30 minutes of questions. We then retire for dinner.
For information on this seminar series please see:

of staff in the Department. The Forum normally takes place
